Title says it all. The raise lockout from Lord of Blades, Master Artificer, Caught in the Web and Fall of truth is a nice kind of death panalty and would make for more interesting questing.

For all raids, maybe.

For regular quests, whether epic or not, I don't think it's needed.

However, I would be perfectly happy with a creative game mechanic that removes slain party members from immediately rejoining the fight (penalty box of sorts).

Not that i think anything like this would actually happen.

Why don't you just voluntarily not use raises and leave the game mechanics the way they are for the rest of us?

Besides.. it's much for fun to watch them die again as soon as they rez, cause they don't know how to move to a safe location. :cool:

i would go along with it if it fits the setting or storyline of the raid, but i dont think a no raise penalty should be instituted for all raids. not saying the penalty fits for LOB and Reavers, but it does for Shroud. i see the penalty in those raids that dont fit the setting as a different kind of twist to the game.

nah... raising the dead is part of D&D.




In pen and paper, Raise Dead through True Resurrection have ten-minute cast times. There's no in-combat raising at all.

I never liked the whack a mole version of D&D. Once it hits this stage, dying is practically a strategy.

No thank you - most raids can recover with okay players - especially since there's usually a mix of casters both divine and arcane that can throw a raise.

That's not true with smaller quests. Awful idea.

Is death due to in game lag exempt from this? If not then there should be consolation Xp for total party wipes.

scrolls do not share casting times with spells, all take a single standard action to read, so TR scrolls are pretty standard high end items to craft on most clerics. Rods of res also only take a single standard action and can carry quite a few charges.

And my personal favorite, seeds of the crystal trees of the positive energy plane, something any competent planewalker of lvl 12 or higher( i only run planescapes personally) will have a sack full of them like goku does senzu beans on DBZ. One of these peram grants the eater fast healing 3, anda free true res upon death up to and including complete destruction of the body and banishment of the soul,

Dont act like its so hard, one of the complaints about D20 and FR in general is its more of a super heroic comic book type of play. Death is trivial, power beyond measure, and the stuff of legends just last thursday for most of the icons and their peers( which player characters better **** well be trying to be or else why exist?)

Many people 2 and 3 man epic quests, and a very long raise timer is extremely punative towards those groups, particularly on EE when 1s lag can mean 1200+ damage from an overbuffed ogre.


Maybe 10s/20s/30s on EN/EH/EE.

The reason I like it in raids is that there are generally a lot more players involved and thus the "web" of who can raise who is a lot more intertwined...and the mechanic of having to wait actually makes sense.
