As a man of many toons and builds, I see from quite a few angles. Many of my toons are now in epic levels with at least one or two ED's finished. And here is a problem I've begun to notice:
My "It's all about the spell dc's" wizard can land spells. Quite often in fact. Outside epic elite, its probably 95% on most trash mobs.
My other caster/divine toons cannot. Some of them might be able to at least "get on the d20" for the mob's save if they twisted some magister, but they'd still only be in the 10-15% success range.
It seems to me that spell dc's are starting to run into the same issue that armor class was before the AC change. I felt the change was not only necessary, but well thought out. It returned AC to being an acceptable characteristic to build upon for many builds, as opposed to a very small subset of melee characters, while the rest were treated like they had 10 AC, regardless of their number.
Many of my toons, and this has been echoed by a few of my RL friends that are also playing around in epic levels, are feeling that, without many specializations, they have fallen "off the d20" for spell dc's, and anything they cast may as well be DC 1, for it will simply have a 5% chance of working.
So the suggestion being subtly hinted at here, is that I think a spell DC change similar to the AC change is swiftly becoming necessary. I will admit that the difference is not quite as pronounced as the AC issue was when it was changed, yet. But I see it heading there.
So, what do the rest of you think? Am I insane and "all your toons with sp bars are landing everything dc based without any specializations, so it just must be bad luck on my part," or something else?
