UPDATE 2/28: Missing outfits are being returned, but the process to return missing outfits will take some time. The distribution could take several days (or longer), and we will announce when the distribution has completed. Thank you.

UPDATE 4:03 PM Eastern - The reimbursement process has been temporarily suspended while we look into an issue with the process. We will let you know when the reimbursement process resumes. Thanks!

If you lost your non-Named outfits upon the release of Update 17 this week, prior to yesterday's hotfix, you should soon be receiving your missing items in the in-game mail. Please give our process a couple of hours to do its work. Thank you!

Well done, Turbine. And THANK YOU for the large host of communications this week. You may not suspect it, but it helps to be able to bear with these issues. Tremendously.

Unfortunately, we have had to temporarily suspend the reimbursement process, and will let you know when it resumes. Thanks! The process was being a bit...hungry...in regards to resource usage. We'll keep you up to date.

How did you determine what items needed to be returned? When I logged on to a fresh, lonely warforged on wayfinder, I got 6 random outfits in the mail. I do not recall having these and I have not saved or banked anything (outfits to craft type stuff) on wayfinder. When I picked up the 5th, I got a Sane Asylum Quest completion. I don't remember having any of these outfits, and I assume it saw the 5th missing outfit in an uncollected sane asylum reward and sent it to me. I wonder what would have occured if I collected the end reward while that outfit was still in my bank? I also wonder if there were better items in that reward list. My real question, however, is if I actually owned any of these outfits.

Either way, cool to see you are returning items, and pretty quickly.

We have suspended the reimbursement process while we look into a few issues with it. Unfortunately, it appears unlikely that we will be able to resume this process today or this weekend, but we are working to get you your outfits back as quickly as we can. We'll get you the latest information as soon as we have it. Thanks.

Oh, carpfish.

I haven't read thru ALL the outfit threads, so have to ask - did the outfits disappear only when logging in on a specific character, or did they *poof* on ALL characters that had them, regardless of actively logging in with them?

Wow, when you guys design a MONSTER, you don't know when to quit.

But we like the ones we can stab and punch, not the ones that devour server cycles.

Better a short heads-up on the restart than a suffering, lagging crash-death. Thanks to you and everyone at Turbine for your VERY hard week, from the St. Valentine's Day Server Massacre to getting U17 running and quickly getting a hotfix and return resolution for butt-nekkid Monks like myself.

On the positive side...Crystal Cove felt REALLY stable and Epic-ready. Thanks for the extra touches in the cave for more objectives.

That's kind of a chicken and egg question. Without logging in to a specific character, how would one know if an outfit was missing?

But to provide a more applicable answer, there was a problem with the new outfit data which prevented the inventory display methods from recognizing their existence. The outfits didn't go anywhere, they were simply inaccessible; much like ship buffs have done from time to time. The "fix" in question is to re-associate the outfit with it's owner which is apparently easier to do by mailing them than directly manipulating the database.

Apropos of "missing"* outfits, my friend the Halfling** Burrandy of Thelanis would gladly like to help with re-associating said outfits with their previous owners for what he likes to call a respectful finders fee and a pint of the local

Please contact him in your second (and in some case third or fourth) best Sar-Day outfits at the corner table of the Leaky Dinghy.

- - -

* My friend Burrandy wonders why I feel the need to put the word missing in quotation marks. I assured him it was merely because the said outfits were no longer missing and hence the quotations to pay respects to the mild if inherent irony in referring to them as such.

** Burrandy questions the need to state his race and what doing so had to do with anything. I assured him it was merely to help in identification of both parties with the sole purpose of facilitating his due "rewards"***.

*** Burrandy wanted to know why I felt the need to put the word rewards in quotation marks. I felt it best to end the conversation there.

Ignore sebastianosmith, you can tell and it was only toons you logged in with. You tell by logging onto a safe toon with no outfits and myddo'ing toons that do have an outfit on (works for worn outfits only ofc). I've since logged onto a toon that did have an outfit on (easily spotted on the login screen) ad they're all there as they should be.

Nowt to worry about. :)

What part of my post should be ignored? The part where I was correct or the other part where I was correct? Outfits that were equipped at the time of this unfortunate incident were still equipped even if one logged into the character wearing them. That they did or did not appear in MyDDO - that bastion of utter reliability - is of no consequence. The problem was one of display, not existence. If there were but a single code path to perform item data integrity checks, the story may have been different.

Good news. They only disappeared when you logged in. My monk's gear was untouched but the sorcerer I logged into before the fix lost his gear.

Oooo touchy...

This bit:

because you could tell if some outfits were missing without logging on to that toon.

Oooo touchy...

No, simply trying to allay any concerns some people may have with missing outfits. None were permanently destroyed.

because you could tell if some outfits were missing without logging on to that toon.

By consulting MyDDO, one could tell that there was possibly something askew with a single outfit if a character happened to wearing it when active; and only if it was a non-named outfit. This does not address the original question of "did the outfits disappear only when logging in on a specific character, or did they *poof* on ALL characters that had them, regardless of actively logging in with them?". MyDDO provides no information pertaining to a character's entire inventory. The only way to determine that would be to log into the character.

I had an outfit in my mailbox (Expired auction shortly after patch 17, before the hotfix.) which still hasn't been returned to me. The mail is there but the outfit isn't in the item slot and I can't detach it.

Ok, I got an outfit back, I know for sure it isn't mine since there is a large brown spot in the back...

What kind of tomfoolery is this?

Can I get some sort of re-imbursement to cover the drycleaning?
What if the stain doesn't come out?

On second thought, can I just have a nice new one?

That have lost their outfits. My outifts that are lost are mostly flavors of XYZ of greater fire resistance(16th and less) and improved fire resistance(6th level or less). Unfortunately, I don't really remember exactly.

I know I am missing outfits on Argonesson, Cannith, and Ghallanda. At least I can tell what characters were affected when I login and my outfit/robe is missing from what I am currently wearing and the inventory spot is BLANK. But I am not down to my skivvies, I am wearing some random looking pant suit.

I also know that if my character was wearing a deathblock outfit and I logged in, it did not disappear.

Deathblock is now called DEVblock.

I believe that the outfits disappeared for those toons on login. My reasoning for this belief is the fact that a toon of mine that didn't log in between the Update 17 release and the hotfix, had its outfits entirely unaffected. If they had ALL gone poof, then those would have been missing or in the mail system being returned.

Just a note that we have once again started distributing missing outfits. However, the process is unfortunately slower than we'd like, so it may take several days (or longer) for the distribution to complete. If you don't have your outfits back yet, be patient! Cordovan, you still have some work to do on the process.

I just got a ton of mail on one of my alts, all with outfits attached.

The junk loot garbage outfits that I was planning to sell were fine.

The cannith-crafted guild-slotted outfit WITH THE DDO STORE ARMOR APPEARANCE KIT ON IT, however, will not detach from the email and is locked in my mailbox, taunting me with its' irretrievableness.

Edit...

Just did some poking around. The item IS in the character's inventory now, but the in-game mail still exists, still says it has an item attached, and the mail cannot be deleted until the impossible-to-detach outfit is detached.

Still lame, but less lame than losing the outfit.

Yay Thank you Turbine! :D

For I got yesterday night my deathblock outfit with the armor kit. But along with it, I got dozens and dozens emails with all types of outfits, some weren't even mine for sure (I mean, outfits of power? I didn't had of those in my backpack by the time U17 came out, I'm talking about a monk toon) :p

I got them in my mailbox as it was said it would be, ok with that. But, I got a few duplicated outfits, including the outfit with the armor kit. Problem is, all the others I've sold to have some space (there were REALLY LOTS of them in my mailbox to detach from the emails, 10x more outfits than what I really had) and now, there is one final email I can't delete, because I need to detach the outfit first. But I can't detach it, because I already have that outfit. I tried to move the outfit to the bank storage, but still couldn't detach it from the email. Now I have a "stuck mail". :(

Can't delete it, can't detach the item

Now here's a thing...my rogue did not lose her outfits in The Great Outfit Debacle of '13. Two days ago when she logged on for a spot of pirating her outfit was fine. Today she logs on and guess what - outfit has gone! She is wearing a version of the outfit without its top layer but there is nothing in the armour slot in her inventory. But she has mail! So I go to the mailbox and lo - her outfits have been returned (the one she wears and the one that got shifted to too high a level in an update last year and has been in the bank since)!

How odd. They had to take away her non-lost outfits in order to return them. That is bizarre.

Still waiting on my replacements, although 1 character got 4 outfits that I really didn't need. My monks and rangers are still waiting, so the returns must not be complete yet.

The character who needs his outfits back the most has his "unclothed" skin looking like one of the new outfits. Switching outfits does not change the unclothed skin back to regular. I wonder if that contributed to his not getting outfits returned.

This was the response to my help ticket:
The issue you have described is not an issue that the In-Game Support team can assist with. We recommend that you take a moment to submit a formal bug report at this url: http://forums.ddo.com/new_bug.php? to aid in the research of this issue. Be sure to fully review the information at the top of the bug report form to understand how bug reports are handled.

Since I'm sure Turbine is aware of the outfit issue, and I did bug report it on Update day, I don't think that will help. I'll try account support. Not sure if this will help.

Er... um.... I don't believe that is correct. I had two characters lose outfits, and, while I have had about 6 characters get back outfits, one of the two characters who lost outfits never got any back.

Not really a big deal to me, as he was wearing the DDO equivalent of a hefty bag with holes cut out for arms and head, but worth mentioning none-the-less.

I have not received the outfits back and Yes I have checked very carefully on every character.
I have tried very hard to get some sort of reply from the support team as suggested. I have been in touch with GM's who close the tickets and give no assistance.
I have logged a bug report last Tuesday and have heard nothing back.
What should I do next?
I just want my stuff back, please, or some sort of response would be nice.
