View Full Version : End Game build advice request

In short, I suck at builds ;)
I have made one or two that I like and think are good but nothing great.
I have a request, right now I have a toon with 20 past lives (completionist with 3 PL wiz, FvS and a couple of PL Sorc, maybe some other stuff, I forget).
He is currently a FvS necro build that can do some healing. (56 Necro DC self buffed). The problem I am running into is I like playing EE and I always fall back into a heal bot mode, so the primary focus (insta killing) is wasted.
What I am looking for is a build that can take advantage of all the past lives and gives more flexibility. Heal bot is a snore fest.
I like:
Arties are great fun until level 16 or so then they start to fall off in usefulness.
Dr00ds are fun but lack punch in EE except for one spell.
FvS are great in everything but EE where they get turned into healbots.
Wizards are great fun but pretty one dimensional, I do like buffing and healing when needed.
Ranged melee is a nice diversion and I thought of doing a Uzi build a few times but just couldn't get into my ranger toons so never got around to it
I love Rogue skills and loved my rogue toons but they got pretty marginalized in the last few years (I really don't want to be assassin build number 463,087 on the server) I tried all flavors of rogue over the years but haven't really found one that has enough impact on the end game. Back when traps were worth noticing, I liked them a lot more. It felt like I was helping ;)
I don't really care about up close melee or tanking, it isn't bad, just not fun for me.
I never did get into my sorc builds (no clue why)
Overall I like a challenging and versatile build but I don't seem to be able to find something that "clicks".
I also have a tendency to prefer pure builds over mixed classes, I don't really know why but it "feels" better to me. I am not opposed to mixing them up though.
Suggestions?
P.S. I like to think of myself as a top end player, but the truth is, I am probably a mediocre player that has done everything in the game often enough to seem more skilled than I really am ;)
Note - This is not a commentary on any class or style of play, these are personal preferences and opinions. If you think I am a moron for not thinking your preferences are the greatest ever, keep it to yourself. This is a game and I am looking to have fun playing it and that involves what I find fun, not what some stat chart says is the best at whatever ;) Thank you for understanding.

Druid in Shriadi Earthquake (the one spell), Ice Storm, Sleet Storm and Storm of Vengeance going. It doesn't exactly lack punch but its hell of expensive to get the punch.
They might be the classes that you like but what your saying in that list is what you don't want (week ranged damage, healbot, one dimensional buff bot, etc) so the question is what do you want?
Note on that your not going to find a toon that can do everything in EE. EE is the developers attempt to make the game some what more party/group focused.

Oh, I don't mind being one dimensional in EE, I am hoping for more dimensions out of EE though. IE in EE you play your A game but outside of it, you get to muck about and solo or just goof off without worrying if you are contributing enough to the group or dying left and right ;)
PS I should also have noted that almost all ED are maxed. working on the last two now.

So which role do you want to excel at, for EE?
Best Strikers at the moment are melee dps or Sorc/Wis nuckers in Shradi.
Best CC are things with Web or Earthquake reflex is the week save in GH it seams.
You said you don't want a healer or tank right.

reading your description of classes, seems like the class u need is... gm?
everything has pros/cons
choose a class, then u can start to make it ee-able, because all classes are ee-able
in fact i disagree in all what u said in the first post XD

Personally, I like insta-kills from necro or the utility of Arties. Mostly something different. There is no one right answer, it's just that I have done **** near everything else, I want to try something new that can leverage some of the investment I have in the toon.

not to disagree with you, I think you are taking this the wrong way. I have done and can do EE in several classes.
I am looking for something that will extend my interest in the game (read- FUN!). I tired the solar phoenix and found that to be a blast (Kudos to the people who came up with and helped build that).
I am just looking for the same feel but also takes advantage of the past lives. I keep thinking Artie but I can't find a way to make them useful enough in EEs to actually make the change.
Also I keep thinking about LRing my FvS into more of a healer/nuker to see how I like that, but before I do all that, I wanted to lean on the expertise here for advice/ideas

Just an idea but if you have GMoF maxed out already you could try an 18/2 wis-based FvS or Cleric (either would work well), go necro spec since you like that, but add in Stunning Fist to the mix. Your stun will be outstanding with all of your past lives and your wizard/fvs past lives will help make up for the lost Spell Pen. Feat-wise you actually get 1 more feat than normal since Monk provides Toughness and Stunning Blow. I'm actually considering this as a possible end life for my caster as you can easily raid heal on the build and with the right feats you can nuke, insta-kill, and even have fun with a bit of handwrap-based melee. Especially on the FvS version you'll have really good saves, the Reflex doesn't fail on a 1 bit from GMoF, and Evasion. Tough toon to kill, good nuking, and really fun to play.

Good idea, thanks. My only concern is the nerf to EIN and how that is going to work out in the coming weeks.
For now I think I am going to LR my build and focus more on Evocation and Healing to see how that plays in the new content as well as the old. The best thing about being able to heal, people want you in their groups no matter if you kind of suck at it ;)

If you want to experiment with GMoF you can without the 2 monk splash it will give you ki, the ability to be centered, and the monk handwrap attack style.
Its a bit more difficult to charge EIN without out stunning fist but lily petal, orchid blossom, and drifting lotus will get the job done.

Maybe try 17/Wizard 2/Monk 1/Artificer or 17/Wizard 2/Artificer 1/Monk if you're not too focused on evasion?
I noticed you like wizard buffing & heals so you could go:
WF - 17/Wizard 2/Artificer 1/Monk
This would get you reconstruct for emergency heals, you can do trap skills and you can use xbow/rune arm.
Also since you're into necro focus maybe go Pale Master II.
I would say build it like a Evoker FvS(necro) but add more buffing and better versatility.
Using you're past lives you get higher DCs and more sp.
Also, with arti you can use scrolls that allow you to use your int mod as damage and to hit (Awesome!)
I'm not sure how much you're focused on evasion but if so you can drop rune arms and 1 UMD for it.
Epic Destiny would depend on how you want to play it:
Nuker - Draconic
AoE - Shiradi or Fatesinger
CC - Magister(you can twist some of the necro DCs if you want)
Ranged - Shiradi or FotW
Melee/Unarmed - Dreadnaught
Tank(highly unadvisable) - Sentinel
Some choices I made for that; Fatesinger can be a great AoE destiny. Spamming fascinate(if you have a bard leveL) with dirge and siren's song, most stuff won't last too long in En or Eh
Fury of the Wild - HIghest available ranged dps shown on many builds
Tell me what you think :D

If you want to try something quite different...
http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=409201
I am currently playing this build and my only complaint is how
"OP" ranged dmg with shiradi is atm. But when melee is a good
option, the dmg just pours out.
As for your completionist toon, my stance on completionist
is that your last life NEEDS to be a MAD build, otherwise
what's the point of having completionist.
Your past life setup is quite good for Evo FvS though, why not
roll with that?
