View Full Version : ED Ability Suggestions

I apologize if there are already posts about this and I know it may be a bit late to suggest such things. However, there are a few things in ED's that really bother me. For example, in Unyielding Sentinel, Bane of Undeath, Fanaticism and Healing Hands. In my experience, these are nearly useless if you are not a Paladin or in the case of Bane of Undeath Paladin or cleric. I know that they grant a small secondary thing, but honestly, I think that it would make more sense for people to want to get these abilities if they gave you a modified version of the feat where it the DC or damage output or healing output was based on your overall character level, instead of Paladin level or for Bane of Undeath Paladin or Cleric level. This may make these truly worth the AP spent and I think would drastically improve this ED. Heck, maybe if you didn't want to make it for your overall character level, at least make it for your divine level, this would make these much more useful for favoured souls and clerics using this ED. I believe the addition of this would simply be beneficial to everyone :). I may post more suggestions in this thread in future, this one just happened to be on my mind and bothering me lately. Let me know what you guys think :)

I've noticed some issues too and was hoping some changes could be made.
The shadow dancer epic moment does unholy damage to enemies. Since 80% of what we're fighting is evil and destroying evil is kinda a mainstay in the game, unholy damage is kind of useless. If it could be changed to negative energy, physical, or untyped(shadow) damage the moment would be great.
The Magister epic moment isn't all that useful. It's hard to time when the party is going to be slammed with a huge spell or torrent of spells and 20 seconds isn't a long time. In all likelyhood the party would get slammed with the killer spells and then the wiz would activate it too late since it's hard to predict. While other classes are doing three or four times damage. I would suggest something that either increases spell damage straight up or makes a large group of enemies more vulnerable to magic attacks for a while. Also their enhancements up the DC of their spells but not their damage. All this means is that the caster is doing full damage at epic levels when they should really be doing full damage anyway. Meanwhile other classes are again, doing triple to quadruple damage.
A useful ability that isn't an epic moment would be an available ability that allows the penetration of magical defenses such as deathblock, freedom of movement, etc, especially since at higher levels it seems like everything has deathblock.
Likewise the draconic incarnation epic moment is a large resiliency buff. While this is cool and all it's short duration and the fact that casters normally do their best to stay out of the fight and do damage from a distance anyway. They don't usually prepare for long durations to jump invincibly into the fight.

Bane of undeath grants you the turn dead feat, at tier 2 take confront any foe, works great
Fanaticism grant smite evil, and you fight alot of evil, handy to have
healing hands grants lay on hands and spell power, if you have good pos spell power ungrade to light the dark, if your are a cha based toon lay on hands works great
if you stay in this ED you have 5 lvl being added which helps, but if your going to twist US into another, choose what works best for the main build (eg, dps, heals, ac, deathblock etc..)
