As we all know the downtime is billing related. Other Warner Brothes properties are affected with an extended outage. see http://na.cartoonuniverse.com/en/news/maintenance-next-week

Probably a WB mandate bringing properties inline with the same billing platform.

This would certainly account for large delays with no real ETA.
That game is in beta. People need to create new toons after the change.

Head office mandated? CHECK
Top-down implementation? CHECK
Deployment specs written by a management committee? CHECK
Utter lack of communication? CHECK
Fingers pointed on a hair trigger? CHECK
Yep. Sounds like a corporate plan to me.

I know Time Warner uses SAP the Enterprise software that basically turns whatever way the company was doing its business into a clusterf for the next six months.
I wonder.....

Well, i hope its not based on anything like that.... the new post that it has states:
"Cartoon Universe will be offline starting on Monday February 18th until Monday February 25th for some important updates. When we get back, everyone will need to create a new character to get all the new game features. We can’t wait to show you all of the exciting new changes!"
if it is at all related then we are in trouble. New toons? ...

The only people that LOVE SAP are the consultants that get $300 per hour to fix it. A completely thankless job, but well compensated for the pain and suffering you go through at the hands of the customer.
Even better, when the stuff really hits the fan, you tell the complainers to go talk to the CEO who mandated and signed off on the deal. SAP Software is not a $49.99 application that is plug and play.
LotRO is also down for an extended time. Looks like it is something central like billing rather than an issue with the game servers.
