Devs: Items In Mail Will Expire

I just did a TR and mailed my new character some low level icy burst items and greater banes. I opened some of them to use but opened even more of them without detaching the items that I was not ready to use yet. So lots of my new Icy Burst items that I mailed to my character had been opened on a 5 day timer in the mail. Will they expire in the mail over the down time?

If mail expires during the extended down time, will there be a way to retrieve it?

Feel free to list in this thread any items in your mail that will expire in the down time.

I won't lose anything, but do wonder if they are able to suspend mail expiration without a client patch for, say, 48 hours after the servers come back up to avoid the issue.

I don't know if the servers are really "off" or not, but if they are no time will have passed in-game. I would hope at some point that they would put everything on pause.

If time doesn't pass, then that would mean people's raid timers would not be running either, and that will annoy some folks for sure.

At this point how much more annoyed could they get?

I would expect mail, at least, to have a static expiration date that is checked every 5 mins or so, rather than a timer that ticks down every so many game cycles, as the latter is a very inefficient method of handling the problem of mail expiration. But, who knows.

Mail should not be used for bank space.....
