I don't care what they do. I just care that they exist. Make it so! =O

[Example:
Striding 30%
Mad Capering: (Like Madstone, but +4 Dex, +2 Cha, +4% dodge bonus, +5 untyped bonus to saves, +10% melee attack speed)
Enemies that strike the user have a 2% chance to be affected by Otto's Irresistible Dance]

When you say "like madstone, but..." you mean "prevents spellcasting and...", right?

Don't worry if this ever gets made the procs will be reversed and the mobs will get the buff while the player gets danced. It will later get renamed boots of griefing and be declared to be wai.

If any dancing themed shoes is added I Would personaly prefer if they just added the Slippers of battledancing.

+10 landspeed (would translate as 33% striding in ddo)
+5 tumble
If you have perform 5 or more; +2 to initiative (no translation in ddo, some minor double strike (1-3%) could fit or just an ddo bard ability such as anthem) and may use cha for attack and damage with 1h & light weapons as long as you move more than 10feet (would probably translate as working as long as you have the move to-hit penalty or just skipp the move part in ddo due to that itmay be frustrating gameplay wise).

This pnp dnd item would probably make a lot of cha based Ddo bards happy :)

;) Quite.

As noted, it was just a casual example of concept; As I said, I really just want to wear boots with that name.

..don't judge me.

So yeah, didn't get that far in the thought process, simply by way of lacking interest in the specifics. ;P

The one thing I'm interested in is that it has abstract thematic features (eg, the random dance proc).
So as long as that's still included..

Yeah, an item that works off perform would be quite interesting. And I simply adore how you tied in a unique, desired feature thematically into the boots. I'd definitely love an item like that, though I can already hear the moans of suffering from people that hate anything but straightforward, generic items~
As far as it being annoying, as long as it just interprets it as 'move and attack', I think it'll be fine. In fact, there are a lot of strafer-melee/support-melee toons that would love the option.
It should leave a little dazzle behind, where the toon walked from, though, in a visual effect reminiscent of a small dancing sphere light flash. ;)

And, as thematic as the +landspeed is, I'm not sure it'd work, since the devs have repeatedly stated that the movement system bugs after a certain movement speed, and they suggested UD14's ED increases started touching upon that. Add in that +10ft landspeed is a +33% movement speed to your entire speed, and that's pretty much assured to hit and pass that barrier.

Because the dev's can't figure out how to fix... I mean, they think it is a really awesome idea. Yeah, that's it.

The armors from the Reign of Madness quest line can be upgraded with melodic guard, so that might be something to look into as a placeholder for those dream boots.

Can't take any credit I'm afraid, the Slippers of Battledancing is an item from the Dungeons Masters Guide II.

It would probably just be the standard 30% striding if it was implemented in ddo. Land speed is just the wording used in 3.5 pen & paper dnd (and human base speed is 30ft, so +10ft ~33% increase). But then again the Long strider spell is +10ft land speed in dnd and translates to 15%(?) striding in ddo I believe. I do however agree it shouldn't be a stacking speed increase.

Ah, true. It's been a good while since I had to reference items from the DMGII. :)

So, yeah; Apparently what I want is Slippers of Battledancing. :)

..Mad Capering sounds more fun, though, doesn't it?
