View Full Version : Protection quests...

I've suggested this before, but I'm going to suggest it again.
In all protection quests, please let us add the protectee to the party. That way, the protectee's health is easily viewable and they are more easily targeted for a heal.
It's irritating to have to keep the protectee targeted just so I can see their health. And, when I inevitably have to target something or someone else, it's often difficult to select them again and I have to try to stand nearby and burst or mass heal on myself in order to keep them up.
Being able to add them to the party would make all the protection quests much more bearable.

Maybe Coyle doesn't want to be part of your party? ;)
He is a zerger, so maybe he wouldn't mind all that much :p

Great idea.
And let me keep Viercha in party for a couple levels thereafter :D

It's a great idea but I'm not sure if that isn't a pretty major tech change which means it's probably a lot of work, and probably high risk even if it is possible.
Party mechanics and dungeon scaling max out at 6, or they're considered a raid. And you can't enter regular quests as a raid party (I don't know why, it's probably a lag thing?). I would guess that if they allowed the NPC to auto-add to party, it would also have to have the ability to auto-convert to a raid if the party had a full 6 people in it already. That would mean the quest would have to allow raids, which as we've already established, isn't allowed for some reason.
If the reason for these restrictions is engine based, changing them could have unbelievable numbers of side effects to track down and resolve, like the impact on dungeon scaling calculations, dungeon alert, goodness knows what kind of DPS lag to deal with in far more situations than currently due to people now running these quests in 12 man raid groups for a laugh... and that's just the blindingly obvious stuff, no doubt. And if it IS engine based, Turbine might simply not be able to adjust it, I seem to recall it's a 3rd party engine?
Anyway, if they *could* find a way to do this without ending up breaking a bunch of other stuff, I'd be absolutely all for it.
Maybe they should just make all escort quests raids... :)

Isn't there an option in the UI settings that allows you to turn on overhead health bars for everything? Not excatly what you want, but it might work.
