I may not type much in the forums, but I'm very verbose in game, both with helpful advice and answers to questions as well as non-game topics ranging from the ultra mundane to highly personal exchanges.
All of these typed passages are making their way - in part - into general (or other inappropriate currently selected chat channels) due to the change that DDO has made to the chat buffers.
This isn't a new change. It's been around for quite a while now and I've been biting my tongue waiting for a reversion, but i can take it no longer.
It used to be that if I typed too long I hit an invisible wall at the end of the message.
This was excellent. I'd look up and see my message ended at the end of the buffer. i could then just send it and retype the remainder in a second (and sometimes 3rd and 4th) message.
Now if I hit the 'end' of the buffer, characters drop off the beginning of the message.
This include directionals like /tell, /r, /p, /g, etc....which means things are going to be dropping into inappropriate channels.
This is also NOT apparent at the point of hitting enter. i can't look at my message and know if I've hit the buffer's end or not whithout hitting the 'Home' key everytime. Which is inconvenient.
And near impossible to retype the missing bits from the beginning. You have to first delete bits off the end before adding bits to the beginning again. As whatever you add will just drop off the front side still.
Please, please change it back.
