View Full Version : Add a shortcut in the Cannith wilderness area

Getting a raid group together for Lord of Blades or Master Artificer is a really time-consuming process. Combined with the necessity of running the raids multiple times to craft items, these raids become less and less appealing to run for alot of people.
So please, make it so that you only have to run to the raid entrance once, and afterwards be able to take a shortcut. Something like this was done for the Tower of Despair raid, so why not do so for LoB and MA?

This has been asked for more times than I can count, unfortunately I don't think turbine has ever responded or has any interest in doing so. Signed to the idea but not hopeful that it will ever happen.

Considering how irrelevant this zone now is, I have to agree. A single completion of the quest chain should be enough to unlock such a short-cut.
I notice the broken elevator at the zone entrance. Why not "unblock" that to provide a shortcut?

*shrugs* We can only hope

The reason they have it for The Tower Of Despair is because The Devil's Battlefield isn't a raid area, a raid group literally can't go to ToD without using the shortcut or splitting up.

Why was it made that way? It doesn't make sense at all...

LOL I actually forgot these exist. In full disclosure I have never run them either, mainly because I never saw a group up for them.
I do remember that when they first came out I tried to get into it but nobody was interested. Few had run it and they were either running in Private/guild groups or weren't bothering because they didn't feel it was worth it.
Then again I don't really bother much with the Cannith explorer and quests either which is strange because while I dislike the explorer I really like the quests in there.
Again I don't know why specifically but there it is.

I don't see why this is such a large sticking point.
Last time I ran LoB, the non-raid area was cleared before I even joined the group, the rest of the area was cleared before the group even got filled (I joined at 9 so it wasn't that long) by only two or three people....
It's not hard to clear it and it doesn't take long to walk through, with the elevator up it's not long at all.
It actually adds to the raid, and I feel it should stay. It doesn't require a full 12 people to clear so it's not like the group has to stand and twiddle thumbs to fill and then clear everything....
This is basically like asking to take out AtDQ before Zawabi's Revenge because it's a very similar scenario, except with AtDQ everyone actually needs to be there and flag for it (not to mention there is a run through a wilderness which is much longer than taking the elevator in House C).

It's not hard to clear it
In the history of the dozen or so threads like this I have participated in, at least 200-300 replies and in excess of 100 people, no one, not once, has ever said "its too hard to clear it". Never. Not once. About 20 people have said its not hard, but no one has ever even implied that it is.
What everyone has said is that it is annoying, tedious, time consuming, frustrating, and not fun. No one has ever said that it was hard.
I don't see why this is such a large sticking point.
Its a large sticking point because it is not fun. If you play a game for fun, and your choices are "do something fun" and "do something tedious" you are going to choose the fun option.
And the main reason people say its not fun? "I have to run through the stupid explorer area every time." If you notice, thats what everyone is complaining about.
Its not hard, its just irritating.

True, but I think most people will also agree that splitting groups and running through a wilderness to ADQ1 is also a silly mechanism for a prequel to a 12 person raid.
I would like to see a teleporter in Cannith. Unfortunately I don't think this would help the pug scene much since even with Shroud (pre-airship) or ToD there was always that one guy that hadn't gotten the shortcut yet.

/signed also .....
I finally got a short-man group of guildies to head out there once - we were all in the never done it pile so we didn't know the exact path - where mobs were - best ways to deal with them. I had to chug a pot in the explorer area just because I was wasting SP thinking it would only be a short run to the entrance.....
I had convinced one guy to join us since I had watched Shade's vid and on Norm it looked like about a 20min completion - nearly an hour and a half later he was a bit grumpy.
Now I am sure that can be pared down to about 15-20min getting there and yeah you can clear it while the raid fills but still that means someone (leader) is starting that process a good half hour at least before they expect to get into the raid - tack on harder difficulties of the raid and you are well into an hour mark on a raid you must run 5+ times one each difficulty level to tier up your gear for stuff that is good but not great except for a few classes (monk/cleric).....tack on wanting to make a couple of items and the blehiness of that run will definitely get to any player.

When I asked about this before, about 95% of respondents said one of three things:
1)I would go more if I didn't have to run through the explorer area.
2)I would go more if it had better loot.
3)I would go more if I didn't have to run through the explorer area AND it had better loot.
The other 5% were like esoitl who insist there is "nothing wrong with it". My assumption is that these people only ever ran it one time, maybe two.

Not signed.
Before this pack was introduced the community wanted something more than the usual flag for raid nonesense and the Game answered it with House C and we were all happy.
This pack is priceless. It takes a long time because the community asked for it way back when!
Way back when we wanted something new and cutting edge.
No.

I think the idea of a teleport is a good one, but the implementation is key. If it's at all difficult (or even just a slight bit time consuming) expect that at least one member of every group will need to "make the run" each and every time these raids get run. If even one person needs to make the run, the entire point of the teleporter is moot.
I'd say add a teleporter for anyone that has made the run (or perhaps make it a favor unlock?) and at the other end of the teleporter add an option to make it a 2 way teleport for anyone that hasn't yet made the run. In that way everyone can get there fast. The explorer area would then be basically for just that, exploring in your spare time.
Suggesting that a teleport on it's own would reduce overall group run times is being very optimistic. In a worst case scenario you start seeing LFM's that say "must have teleport unlocked to join". Now I know the run down to the raids isn't overly difficult anymore, especially for anyone with destinies active, but even then, many players have no interest in solo running down there in advance and a great many may still not be capable of soloing their way there, even with destinies. I'm a bit skeptical about how long an lfm stating "making teleport run to Lob/MA, no raid" would be on the list before it gets many hits.
