View Full Version : Update 17: Event #2 - Epic Gianthold Raid

The Truthful One is a formidable foe: it's best to not face him and his disciples alone! Join me (and a few others) in Gianthold to confront the Truthful One during the Epic Gianthold Raid. There is even a chance to run the Raid with one of us! Also, while I currently have the Raid locked, I will leave it unlocked after the event.

We will gather in Gianthold at the Raid entrance (the entrance to the Stormreaver's Inner Sanctum) on the following day and time to party up and battle Dragons.

Friday, January 18th from 6pm to 8pm

All times are Eastern (GMT-5)

Smiles,
Squeak

Will try to be there.

Are you looking to test a specific difficulty or all of them?

It would be great to get feedback!

Would it be possible to get events scheduled at times where West Coast residents can attend? 6-8pm EST is 3-5pm PST. As much as I want to, I don't think my boss will let me sneak out of work a couple hours aearly to attend the event....

yuda....

Squeak, will we have to flag for the Epic version of the raid by doing the three necessary "Return to" quests prior?

You could always do what Doug does in King of Queens!
Fake a heart attack.
That would probably do it.

:p ;)

What level is this raid?

25/26/27 n/h/e (according to adventure list).

So expect something a little rougher than Caught in the Web difficulty wise (although hopefully not quite so long).

This is a common question. What he said at the loot event on lama last night was that you technically don't have to get flagged. They have a way they can get you in, but it's kind of complicated so it'd be helpful if you could flag beforehand.

See you there!

If you wipe you probably can't get back in without GM intervention, so best to actually flag.

I'm sorry I neglected to post about this point before now. Ginarrbrik is correct. We can drag you into the Epic Gianthold Raid so long as you are at least level 20. However, it requires us to party up with your group and teleport you into the quest. Then we leave you to transport the next in line. If you would rather not wait for this process, it is best if you are already flagged so you can just hop on in. Additionally, if you are not flagged, you won't get to turn in the quest afterwards.

Thanks Ginarrbrik but there's no way I can flag in time. I wish I had known about the flagging thing yesterday. Good luck to you though!

Was an outstanding raid.

Completed both EH and EE. Best raid in the game IMO.

Detailed feedback coming in another thread.

Not having voice and/or speakers can make this raid WAY more difficult than it should be.

Not having voice and/or speakers can make this raid WAY more difficult than it should be.

This is true, I think the single most important thing our group did to get our completions was to operate on a disciplined comms basis (no chatting, calling out only important things in voice chat).

Especially with four 'you must kill X and Y within Z seconds of each other or BAD STUFF happens' mechanics. A lot of calls like 'Primary DPS target is Dragon of Silence, all on primary except Migrane and Mizto stay on Giant of Silence'.

We made sure everyone had the capacity to hear voice and almost everyone had a mic and this was crucial.

Takes place 100ft under the Reaver's Sanctum. Totally new encounter but similar to fighting all three Tor dragon encounters at once, then the Truthful One and Stormreaver.

Was a lot of fun all around , had two good groups who completed EH and EE and the overall raid and its design makes it the best raid out there ;)

Squeak, any chance you could work on complete 'packs' of gear for the next test?

As an example, a 'pack' aimed at a Wizard you consider to be ready for EN Fall of Truth might look like this:

- Spidersilk Robes +3 Int, not upgraded
- Con 6 GFL belt
- Minos Legens
- +7 Int ring of whatever suffix
- Thaumaturgy staff: +5, Impulse 114, Glaciation 114, Potency 76, Necromatic Mastery
- Necklace tier 2 Shroud (10 HP, 15 HP, Raise Dead clicky, no third tier, not cleansed)
- Assorted 108 element rings (Nullification for PMs, Corrosion, whatever for the rest).
- Cannith challenge level 20 tier 1 items to fill any inventory slots not being used with something somewhat useful.

(and then a much better setup could be made later for people wanting to test EE).

This will get you better results than putting a lot of work into stocking the AH, which generates 90% total rubbish items (+5 Screaming Light Pick of Steam).

I have the process automated (which means randomly generated loot), so I can run the program while I'm away. I understand that this does not provide you with top-notch equipment.

It's not so much that it isn't top notch, in that .. most of it isn't particularly useful for just about any character. I'm not complaining.. I have scrapped together whatever, but a lot of people are rolling new characters and boosting them to cap and then realizing they have absolutely no gear.
