If you are experiencing this error after the patch on June 1st please do the following:


Go to the DDO folder located in "My documents"
Delete the launcher folder
Restart DDO

I have a JBOD (span) harddrive setup and I get the error and something about "cannot copy across volumes". Did you guys check the patch on JBOD hard drives before releasing the patch? or is this relating to something else?

Are you on Peoplepc?

If so you need to close DDO compleatly then disable to acceleration.

Then restart DDO.

Worked like a charm. I also have my My Documents pointing to a network hard drive. As stated above, I deleted the Launcher folder at My Documents/Dungeons and Dragons Online/Launcher

Shut down DDO completely
Click on Start
Click on My documents
Open the Dungeons and Dragons folder
Delete the Launcher folder
Restart DDO

I have also tried reloading the game and have done the one fix where you replace client gameloic file. Nothing has worked. here is what i belive to be my launcher logg as of my last try to connect to the game server plz. help if you can.

I just got a new computer, and had to re-install DDO.
I was really surprised that after the installer patches, this problem is STILL THERE!! Every time I install DDO (3-4 times), I hit this error.

It's been what.... 5 months now since this was posted and it's *still* not fixed ???? This seems like a pretty serious bug to me, if a new user can't even get the **** game to install. It's not a big deal to me anymore because I know the workaround, but how many brand new DDO users encounter this problem and get discouraged right away ??? Not good, guys.

I had the same problem till I realized that the problem was caused by my having the "My Documents" folder set to a different directory other than the default "c:\documents and settings\[username]\my documents\" (I had previously moved it to a different letter drive partition)

Once I set "My Documents" back to the default location on the C drive, the launcher worked fine.

I had DDO on this PC befor ran no broblum but i had to reformat my PC now after reinstalling DDO I get this never had a this befor any INFO would be helpfull

Now I am getting this error. Been playing this game almost since it came out. This error just started this Sunday (8/5/07). I played on Saturday night (8/4/07) just fine. Any other advice besides the deleting of that launcher folder? I renamed it and tried. Then I deleted it and tried. I keeps locking up on 'Opening Main Form', then this error pops up a little bit later. Just purchased a 22" monitor on Saturday to play this game. This is killing me. :mad:

Well, I seem to have figured this out. My firewall is causing problems. It never has before, but right now it is blocking access for the launcher to update. I am a bit concerned about leaving my firewall down for the amount of time that it takes to download ~9900 files, but so be it.

BTW, I tried this fix for this error, and it didn't solve the problem, so I also answered my own question from above. All in all a satisfying 5 minutes... :D

I've done something very similar and encountered the exact same problem. After reading some of the forums, I'm starting to wonder if my firewall might be the issue. If someone has a solution for the the above problem or the ports I can unblock, please tell me.

I'm not running a firewall, and I have the issues. So I don't think it's firewall related. I've already messed with opening ports on my router, to no avail. Save yourself the trouble.
