I always have a sincere feeling of confidence when I hit 20, because Albus is my hireling of choice when I am soloing. He can heal through Epic Hard 24's with ease. His timing on tossing heals is perfect - not too early, not too late - and this is whether I am melee or ranged. He glitches VERY infrequently on follow commands... one exception being he's not fond of rivers.

I don't think I've ever used any of the epic hirelings yet because of this... nice job to whomever programmed him.

Albus is my go-to guy as well. Only issue I run into sometimes is his preference for trying to cast unquickened Mass Heals on himself when taking damage (often resulting in him failing). But, given all the other things he does "right," I don't mind that much. :)

In my experience (and I too use a lot of hirelings), Wyoh mostly stands around and dies.

1. Make sure she's off timer!
2. As you get to the next set of mobs tell her to cast Implosion!
3. You'll be in between her and the mobs so they'll have to get past you to get to her.
4. Profit as 2-4 mobs simply vanish!

She's not quite as squishy as she used to be - All hirelings having gotten more HP!
And I personally take Augment Summoning at every opportunity {this has always pushed her past the one-shot limit at level {18 quests on Elite, 19 hard, 20/21 E-Normal}.

Albus may have plenty of HP but too many times has he stood there trying to cast mass heal on himself while I'm lying dead on the floor.
And of course he joins me as the mobs can easily distract him so he can't cast at all!

I have to say albus has been my buddy at 20 and beyond but lately he's been horrible not sure why....he'll just stand there at 50 hp and not heal himself or not healj meh.

The #1 healing hireling is Althea, the level 16 FvS. This is because her panic heal of choice is Mass Cure Critical, and when it fails she doesn't stand around pointlessly like Albus after his Mass Heal is inevitably interrupted. This isn't a problem with his AI, more a problem with the wisdom of whoever designed his spell/feat selection.

When leveling, I often choose Larafay Do'rret as well. I also have a lot of fun with Barrage.

Used to really like Caraneth Myar, but they royally screwed over her AI so much, she just isn't worth it. She is a hinderance and NOT a help. If she droped firestrike for a res spell, she'd at least be salvageable, but in her current state.... get her drunk and let her waste.

He has Hunter of Boxes Enhancement that's for sure!

- The low level drow Wiz who can hit the INT rune in Tear

Albus ftw! Better than the epic lvl divine hires imo. If I need a hire when im on my fighter, I always go to him. The spells on his hotbar are very useful.

I don't remember the name but my level 13 FVS hireling zerged in one of the Sands quest and died horribly.
And not divine but - one of the low level fighters (level 10 or 11) can cast Dimension Door. (Dragonmark)

I always figured that the hireling AI was the same for all, and their behavior was more related to their ability/attempts to use the skills given to them. Some skills and feats seem easier for their AI to understand.

I would love it more if they were to give the hirelings PRE's like they gave the epic ones Destinies. A healing aura would go a long way for the standard cleric hirelings.

Larafay #1 for sure - you just ahve to manage her SP a bit - when she gets below 400 I start locking her down before fights so I can get healed and she doesn't blow her wad before the next shrine. If I am doing it right though we get to the next shrine just when she is out of gas.

Next for me is any Cleric with DV...when I am on a caster. Natasha is worth about 500SP so pretty much better than a Major Pot.

The only epic hireling I have used is the rogue for holoing Impossible Demands and LostThread.
