The real sound of Camp fires in this game does not sound realistic like it should. Too many popping sounds.

Just wanted say it first.
Firsties!

A real campire only sounds like that if burning pine wood.

and pine wood is dangerous to burn.

This game has no Pine Trees. There should be more of a rushing whooshing water sound, just saying that is what a real camp fire sounds like and the popping sound(s) is random.

Right now I get annoyed while standing next to any 12 or Giant Hold camp. I turn down the volume to 0.

Oh and where is the extra firewood at? I don't see any.

Or just about any unseasoned or "green" wood. Oak sounds very similar when fresh cut, albeit with a tad more hissing. :)

Yes the hissing sound is nice.

Pine wood is dangerous to burn. Got it. Good thing we never do any camping in Canada, or things would go to hell really fast.

Also really glad I didn't grow up in a series of houses heated by pine and spruce wood fires. That might have been dangerous.

Oh, wait.

Since Turbine does LoTRO as well as DDO, they could use the LoTRO sound. Sounds a little more realistic IIRC

LMAO!!!!!

Who fed you that BS? Pine burns just fine in campfires, smells nice too. (Dry pines are also great for starting fires)

The funniest thing about the bonfires in Eveningstar is the snow that piles up near them...

The wood used for those fire camps is from Khyber, don't try and understand the way it is supposed to sound. It's MADNESS

The true question regarding fires in DDO is this: Where do they get the firewood for the fires in Gianthold?

Gotta say, I like the popping, crackling sound. With all the snow in Eveningstar, it really makes me want to sit by one of those bonfires and warm my livewood up a little. But not too much.

Most folks around the Midwest here have always been of the opinion that pinewood in a fireplace is a bad thing - chimney creosote & such... I think that's where the "dangerous" thought may have come from. (guessing)

Actually, seems that it's more a matter of making sure the wood has had time to dry more than a wood sap issue. But try to convince folks something they've been taught since they were young'uns is wrong doesn't go over so well, usually.

/ends digression.

Or anything too green or damp. I set enough fires as a scout to remember.

Pine wood is great to burn in a campfire; poisonous vines, aerosol cans, and jawbreakers are not.

I'll answer your question with another question;

How many warforged badies do you see in gianthold?

Why do you think gianthold is so barren, they have chopped down all the trees for those fires
