View Full Version : Putting my money where my mouth is.

I'm not sure I would call this a Suggestion, so much as I want some stuff to happen with ddo, and I'm using this to show turbine how much I want these things, how much I really, really wish for them, by putting money on each thing, and letting them compare it to how I spend now.

Little background on how I spend: I don't spend much, maybe a point package here, another one there, basically a bit of money when I have it. I usually make between 10 and 50 dollar purchases over a short time, and then stop spending for a long while.

Okay, on to what I want:

What I Want: Gender change on true reincarnation. I currently have 5 characters on thelanis, 1 male, 4 females. The male is my oldest character, and my strongest, being a level 18 3rd life toon, my next is a 2nd life level 16. Lately, I have discovered I am transgender, and at best, I will log on to my male character, play a single quest or raid, then log out and stop playing ddo for the rest of the day, because I can't stand looking at that character. Part of why I play is to deal with this, as it lets me imagine myself as the character in front of me. Giving me the ability to change the gender of my characters on TR would allow me to push through these last two levels and TR.

What I will do if this is added: I will buy 2 months of vip membership.

What I want: DDO Linux client. I know this probably won't happen, but this is something I really, really want. I only use windows because I will play ddo during the day. I don't expect this to happen any time soon, especially while they are working on a new Mac client, but please devs, think about this.

What I will do if this is done: I will buy between 1 and 3 years of vip membership.

Look, I know turbine doesn't have to listen to me, and I know at least one of these things is something huge, but this is something really important to me. I've seen all these people asking for stuff, yelling "nerf this! do that!", and I just don't feel like that's right for me to do, especially given how little I buy from turbine, so I'm going to put my money where my mouth is. I'm saying "I want this turbine, I'm willing to pay X for it to happen".

This is entirely dependent on my monetary situation and whether I continue to play the game. Please turbine, help me out, and do these things for me.

DDO runs fine in linux under wine with the LOTOR launcher replacement package. Its far more likely they will offer gender change item in the ddo store for sale.

I honestly don't know why they haven't already done this. It seems like an easy addition to the store with little coding involved and people would buy it without claiming "Pay to Win!!!"

Well, I've always had problems with it, though I suspect that it's a driver issue.

It was mentioned elsewhere in the forums that a character's name seems to be coded with a gender flag. That may have something to do with it (at least for WF), otherwise I would expect it would be an option under TR (it should be IMO).

A gender change, if possible, may have to be packaged with a reincarnation package of somekind, since you need to go through at least part of the character creation process.

I personally want it to be available on a tr, seeing as that is the most likely for me to use (I'm not going to buy a lesser heart just to change gender...) and also, since I'm getting a new body, why can't it be a female body instead of a male one?

I personally want it to be available on a tr,

Agreed!

Especially for Warforged, because the bodies look exactly the same and it's very easy to accidentally forget.

I expected to be able to recreate my character from scratch on a TR, not be stuck with the same accidental oversight that happened on creation.

Looks like a great option for free money for Turbine from this perspective. The only thing I can think of that it's NOT an option is that the coding was done in such a way as to make it more headache than it's worth to 'fix'.
