Ran jumps all day for purple coins and this was the question of the day. Good job telling everyone to go to Eveningstar when pretty much nobody under 16 could. Can't tell you Turbine how many people were angry about it.

How about an NPC teleporter just for the festival? Maybe show off your new zone as well? That might make some sense huh?

If you had a bunch of people legitimately asking how in the world do I get to eveningstar, I'm actually very very happy. You see while this sucks for lowbies not getting to the festival, it means that there are a lot of new players online and that can only be a good thing.

Sending this message to every character and then not explaining that you have to be level 16, that you have to do the quests to get there, and where those quests are, was a word that you're not allowed to use on the forums.

There are so many people wasting their time trying to figure it out and then being upset that they can't actually do it.

Sometimes I don't understand what the developers are thinking...

Buy the Expansion and you can go there when you get to level 16 OR Buy the expansion and have a friend use ring of friends to port you there.

You can use this if you buy that.

That's called enticement marketing. So buy it.

I really enjoyed being spammed 34 times as i logged in to check my bank toons that are all lvl7. there really should not be any message until your level 16 and able to run the quests to reach the evening star.

Nevermind that those stupid messages never leave - even after a festival is long gone. I had a couple of characters who were still getting the Mabar message!

They really should have filtered that message to only show for toons at least 14 and over. Or do away with that sort of interface spam altogether.

There is already enough confusion for newbies without being "tasked" to play the Eveningstar games that they have no access to.

What I would like to see is a floaty message like a world announcement (not a task block) that would appear for a minute or two upon login letting people know about world events. Using the task block is simply lazy and confusing.

Honestly, the public area task block works fine for Korthos but is pretty counterintuitive in other areas. It doesn't clear like it should, it tends to foul things up in Eveningstar and there's no reason the Eveningstar intro chain gets a "task" when no other Eberron quests outside of Korthos does.

Hire/consult with a UI usability expert, Turbine! Tiny changes can make a real difference in "quality of life" for the game.

You don't need to buy the expansion to go to Eveningstar, you just have to run the four free-to-play quests. There just isn't a lot to DO once you get to Eveningstar if you haven't gotten the expansion (and/or Druid's Deep, and/or the Netherese pak).

Characters as low as level 9 can reportedly be run thru the quests to get to Eveningstar, although I'm not sure if it is a great idea to do so.

That is incorrect. A ring of friends will not take someone to eveningstar from eberron even if they have been there before.

I think just an interface "off" option would do, just like you can turn off hints and chat options.

Actually you don't have to be level 16. You just have to go through the quests.

You can pike them as a level 1 if you have friends willing to let you pike in a corner for Eveningstar flagging.
There's a limited number of quests with a real hard coded level restriction ( and usually it's the raids ).

Once upon a time the quests were done by parties made of characters 4 or 5 level lowers than the quest level. ( before the stupid bravery bonus ) That's why they tried to hard lock Gianthold for characters lower than 10. ( because all the level 7/8/9 characters where there earning heaps of XPs from PoP, Madstone and Crucible )
This hard lock on level for public area can also be bypassed through ship teleporter and character teleporters.

For Eveningstar you can also use the key ( ok, that means that you did flag at a time and got the favor and TRed ).

Regardless of whether it is possible to get there by some workarounds, a public event should be easily accessible by any toon.

...first star on the left, and straight on 'til morning. :p

I agree with the general sentiment here. The reference to ES for people who can't get there is a poor dynamic. Not a well-thought-out implementation, imo.

No you can't, there is a limit to when you can pick up the quest which is I believe14

Whether or not this is true, you are missing the point. You only addressed the "have to be level 16" part of the issue. The message people got did not explain anything about how to do it. It didn't point you to the flagging quests or anything else useful.

There is an option to turn off the campaign quest window, which is where the festival event stuff pops up.

The workarounds still do not really make up for the fact that this new event was poorly implemented.

Eh, i saw the notice pop up to go there on my Arty and she's only 14, (not good equipment either) looked up on the wiki how to get there, and ran the quests on casual (with a hireling or two) and got there no problem. Not sure what the min level is for those, been away from the game for a while, but don't have to be 16.

I do wish the FR stuff had some lower level stuff though, and an easier way to get there, even if just for sight seeing.

On the test server "lamland", there was a way to get people to ES near the fountain in the harbor, though thats what the plan was? oops my bad. maybe someone should look in to it.

And a side note, who are all these people running around the harbor telling everyone they have to buy the Xpack? thats all the info they give "must but Xpack to enter". how many people bought Xpack because of this? We need better communication and more information pls, what will go live and what wont be. we had a live test run of midwinter festival, but not risia? Oh well, lets hope the CC event is working right by now.

Good luck, enjoy what you can, keep gaming!

Did I mention picking up the quests ? You don't need the quest reward to get flagged, just the completion, thus the going through the quest.

And again, how are people supposed to know this? Nevermind that the vast majority of low levels are not going to find some kind people to bring them through. Throwing this in their faces was not nice for anyone.

Seems like a possible side business for somebody here. Newbline express. Taking newbs and lowbies through the underground railroad to Eveningstar via the scenic Web of Chaos chain.

Wrong, I recently made the mistake of red dooring lod, when flagging a toon. The crack in the wall doesn't open and you don't get access to servants, spinner or beyond the rift if you don't have the quest completed.

Edit*
By quest completed I mean having the quest picked up before you run the quest, which you can't do till level 14 I believe.
