Waste of time. I just wanted to say thanks for keeping the festival coins a waste of time in the midst of all the changes you've been making to the game lately. Wee! Stupid bee cookies for gold coins!! Sounds like the ice festival isnt' going to be as useful either, so thanks for that. Way to help keep us focused on adventuring.
Bring back the egg hunt.

There are several non gold cookies that are pretty useful. The Syrania and Dolurrh cookies in particular.
Its not like they take much effort to find. Just loot like you normally do and they are there. If you dont like them, there are always people looking to buy them in the harbor. Last I looked a gold coin was going for 2k plat.

Though im a fervent believer in tanstaafl, the coins come close to being it. The only thing they cost is three slots in your bag. If you dont like the cookies, just sell the coins.
But dont complain about something you get for nothing, thats just bad manners

If the cookies are a waste of time to you, post your coins on the AH. Lots of us have a sweet tooth.

I'm still hoping for a tome from gold coins. Anyone get one this year?

I love festivult! Although I will agree the randomness is kind of a turnoff, until you get something cool. I'm still waiting for my something cool...

I got lots of cookies and am about to log in and trade in some more coins. I sold a lot of cookies to help finance a really poor character. I also got a Sun Blade (http://ddowiki.com/page/Sun_Blade) on a trade in. So, for me it was not a waste of time at all.
But, the really exciting thing is that nothing forces a player to participate. If you don't like the coins just throw them away -- or sell them to the players who fill trade and general chat with their buyout offers.
That's how I sold my cookies. Was a nice boost on a character that was nearly broke. :)

Ya, I think the coins are actualyl a cool thing personally.. They take no effort to collect and I find plenty of uses for at least some of them. Otherwise they sit in a jar or on a bank toon till I do find a use for them or they change in a subsequint year. The fact that turning them in is enter/enter, enter/enter.... 20 times then repeat is great.. It sped up the turn in's by about 1 billion percent... :D

My issue with the turn in. Was turn a gold coin in later turn silvers in get the same cake. Then turn in coppers and gee wiz get the same cake. And yes I am 100% positive as I always turn my coins in 1 type at a time. I do gold, sliver, copper.

I can understand your feelings about the coins, I've just been too busy, and honestly too focused on the Forgotten Realms quests to worry too much about cookies.
Filled my cookie jar last year and don't want to spend the TP for a bigger one.
But please, the Egg Hunt, being a timed activity, I found really frustrating.
I wish the Egg Hunt wasn't a timed event. I really don't like races.
If we're going to have races then lets have some direct player races. I'll avoid them but at least they'll make more sense to me.
I understand about the need for timed contests, but one of the primary objectives of good software design has been the ability to progress at one's own pace, and I feel strongly about that.
But that's just me.

In that case you got lucky.
Each Copper has a chance of receiving a Silver reward and each silver turn in has a chance of receiving a gold reward. It is very possible to get gold reward turn ins from 3 copper coins.
Is it unlikely you get it one after the other? Hell yes. Is it impossible? Hell no.
I think its the best special event of the year. You get free stuff for doing...well...NOTHING. And you have the nerve to complain about that OP? That's sad.

I'm sorry, but it was coined before the 60s. Although, I do remember it from the moon is a harsh mistress.

"I'm sorry technically the phrase existed before it was made part of nerd culture by a golden age sci fi author, Although I do remember it for the same reason you do; not to mention that you weren't claiming Heinlein invented the phrase"
fixed that for you
+1 pedantry points for you sir lol.

Eh... you made it worse for me. I wouldn't have all those terrible grammatical mistakes you pushed into quoting me. Also, having much respect for Heinlein, I would not have misspelled his name, much like the post I quoted. Take that pedantry.

Best event in DDO, IMO, because it rewards the fun part of the game (questing) rather than rubbish minigames like Mabar's "Did I get an instance of a size that can win" lottery, or the ice games.

seriously your complaining about free loot? wow. sell them off or destroy them. There is plenty of us who actually use them. Death ward cookies, protections, spiderskin, blade barrier at low leve,l both shields. how can you not like those? guess that is really too much for you then.
