Anyway, there I was, running through Sorrowdusk, finally got around to doing yet another life on my main on my slow journey to completionist, and even tho Sorrowdusk is a several level quest arc, I still opt to do it pretty much every life, just to keep things moving.
Anyway, as i was breaking coffins and such, for ransack and because it was an optional, which normally means "extra exp" I got something like 170 exp for that, and I was like "is this a joke?"
and then I thought about it, and back when before Bravery, First Time Elite, and all that jazz it very well may have meant something, but today, it's not.
However, there is always a need for more exp in the game. So I was thinking, if they just put something like a 4X multiplier on all the Optional EXP, that would make for a lot more exp in the game, as well as make doing optional's worthwhile.
Just my thoughts.

The extra xp from conquest, ransack and so on have really lost value since tomes and streak, so yeah, I'm all for upping their value.
And yes, the optionals are really, really bad xp generally (there are some exceptions), so looking at them wouldn't hurt either.
The current XP system encuóurages zerging, since using the time on anything but getting to the end is almost never worth it.

Totally agree with the multiplication of optionals. Most people dont even do optional chests anymore, which is against everything DDO was created for. Zergers really kill the fun of the game, and heaven forbid you die in a group of zergers, you are left for nothing cause it will take 20 seconds to bring you to a shrine.

I have to agree with you here.
The DnD spirit is was the "Side Quest" or "Other Things" that netted the most exp, hence the "Adventure" aspect as opposed to blitzing to the boss and kicking his backside into the tomorrow.
And I'll agree, some of those optional objectives could use a 10X boots for them to be made worthwhile, but a 4X across the board would go a long way into inspiring players to do them more often.
It would also deal with the issue of plentiful EXP in the game without needing to add more content or "stuff" to the game to make it so.
