View Full Version : Best epic destiny for an artificer?

Mystaras is sorc 13/paladin 2. My original plan was to make him 18/2, but for various reasons I decided to TR him into pure artificer when he reaches level 20. It just dawned on me that if I make his remaining first-life levels paladin instead of sorcerer, it will open Divine epic destinies. Arcane epic destinies will still be open of course. So my question is -- should I bother? What is the best Epic Destiny for a pure artificer with Past Life: sorcerer, given these choices?

Draconic Incarnation
Fatesinger
Magister
Exalted Angel
Unyilding Sentinel

Actually, my initial impression is that an Arcane destiny is a better choice, most likely Fatesinger. But I may be wrong.

My pure arti uses shadow dancer as his main ED. Sneak attack dice, extra INT and evasion are pretty awesome for an arti. Also twists in energy burst from draconic for some nuking ability.

Reign also makes Fatesinger a good choice.

Shadowdancer is pretty obvious, but too late for that.

That's what I was thinking too -- Fatesinger to start with, eventually open Draconic and twist it in.

If you have Fatesinger, but no actual bard levels, can you have Lingering Song and Extra Song enhancements?

How exactly is it "too late" to get shadow dancer? Is it only available to your character at a certain time of year and then is gone for another year?

I think you misunderstand EDs slightly. You don't HAVE to take levels in a Divine class to open the Divine ED circle. You just have to work your way over there...

If you make a pure artificer, you can only choose to START in the arcane circle, but once you have level 4 Fatesinger, you open up the link over to the Melee circle, and can start taking Shadowdancer levels.

A character on their first life can take all 11 Epic Destinies up to level 5 each, just by crossing over from one circle to another at level 4+.

Too late for me to take Shadow Dancer as first epic destiny, as Mystaras is already level 15 and has no rogue, monk or fighter levels. Yes, I realize I can open it later.

Fatesinger then, as it can open DI / Magister or SD.

I'm really enjoying Fatesinger. My plan is to eventually work my way over to Shiradi Champion.

I also took fatesinger on my pure arti, going for shadowdancer once I unlock it. I will try out shiradi if he gets too much xp, since other people say its much better damage than shadowdancer, but for survivability, better traps and ddoor (its my challenge farmer and possible guild trapper) Id prefer shadowdancer. Another plus of going sorc the rest of the way is: you will level much faster...

On my arti I started with fatesinger and worked my way to Shiradi Champion.

It's the best destiny for a ranged x-bow/caster artificer imo. All the random effects, and cc possibilities, for my play style it's perfect.

Edit: my advice would be for you to work your way to Shiradyi. It's worth it. and more destinies also mean more twists of fate possibilities!!!

Shadowdancer is certainly useful. I just love Shiradi though, more dmg output and I love having tea with the Queen :P .

I twisted some trap DCs from Shadowdancer, but also twisted in Primal Scream from Fury since the strongpoint of my Arti are buffs. Healing Spring is just awesome too, you get to see green numbers over everyone's heads a whole bunch.
