i dont want this game to die so my first idea is free

we need a advertising campaign to bring new players to the game
so please make future expansions in the forgotten realms packs that can level up new players from 1-10 and use this as our next way to bring fresh crop of people into the game
the end game changes are great but have only have alienated new players as a fr fan this should be a huge marketing stradegy

i mean if the game and new novels could go off at same time i can just smell the money this is something this company should do now not later thanks

This is a great idea but unlikely to happen. Right now DDO is in that mature MMO stage where making profit is really all that is driving the game. Try to keep as many players who are playing keep playing by keeping them busy. We are sort of past the point of innovation. I don't want to rain on your parade. Personally I think it is a great idea, but the real barrier to that is that WotC right now is banking heavily on Neverwinter. If there is innovation to be had, they are gonna look for it there. And that is definitely where they are going to focusing any novel tie-ins, if any. I am just happy that DDO is at least following the FR meta-plot as it currently exists.

I think it's a great suggestion if the new pack has many F2P quests.

Here's why I think this is a great idea and whoever in charge should consider this possible cash cow.
For many, D&D equals FR and all the memories that come along with it. Going for tie-ins is nice, but it feels lacking somehow.
Yes, the other game will be new or may have more innovations, but wouldn't it be great if players from the other game can come to DDO anytime and almost feel right at home? Not only that, but players from DDO can just stay here without having to learn new rules and mechanics that may not work out.

Wouldn't it be cool to be able to start a new character in FR and continue from there? The first release could be like the DDO with quests for levels 1-10 from the start. There would be new player areas, quests, etc....with characters who started from the FR side travelling to Eberron one day...

Here's simple picture for the marketing:
New Game : [-----FR-----]
FResh DDO: [-----FR-----] + [--------Eberron-------]

Agreed, for me FR was a let down.

Don't get me wrong they are beautifully designed and the quests and random encounters are great. Some of the best honestly from an art direction stand point.

But why couldn't they have been Eberron. Heck I would have been more jazzed if it was Dark Sun or DragonLance heck even good old Grey Hawk.

Why .. well every game and it's grandpa are pretty much FR based, personally I am tired of playing in the realms.

I did wish that when they decided to go to the Realms that it was say Chult or the Moonshaes, just somewhere that other games hadn't spent so much time in.

Neverwinter, Waterdeep ... no thanks gimmie a new experience not your take on the old one.

The fact that DDO is in that mature MMO stage where making profit is really all that is driving the game is literally the reason why they should be leveraging FR as much as humanly possible. FR is the cash cow of fiction and lore waiting to be milked. DDO should have been doing this in July of 07, heh.

4 classes, I havent seen any multiclassing yet, and based on 4e. Banking on innovation in NWN? Looks like they took a few steps backward.

Then when you consider its a child of bedfellows cryptic / perfect world, Ill be surprised if its not pay to win right from the get go. :p

Make "new" content for "new" potential customers? If they are actually new to the game and trying it out for the first time, then everything is already new to them.

Unlike a ton of people that play this game, I can still remember how impressed I was when I first started playing. It took me almost two years to explore all of the content that was available before the Xpac.

You make it sound as if there is nothing to do for new potential players.

I'm enjoying the FR quests!

Hehe, I thought the original idea was for increasing the potential customers by hooking into the other 'realm/game' playerbase. If the marketting guys say there're more potential customers in another other setting, then do that setting. The idea is that potential customers will likely give it a try if it's their favorite settings....who cares about the current customers, we're already here :D

Here's my revised picture for the marketing:
New Game : [-----FR-----]
FResh DDO: [--------Eberron-------] + [----------------SETTING WITH LARGEST PLAYER BASE------------------]

Oh they are nice quests but there was no need to place them in the realms they could have fitted them into existing story lines on eberron easily
