Hello!

I have seen a number of people say that their character(s) did not actually copy to Lamannia. I would like some information regarding this issue:

Do the characters that fail have a "character data unavailable" warning? Or do they look like they should transfer, but then fail to do so?
How many of your characters have failed to transfer? (Please list character names, levels, classes, and servers.)
How many of your characters have successfully transferred? (Again, please list names, levels, classes, and servers.)
Do you have characters that show the "character data unavailable" warning that you want to copy?

My characters are fine, its just that I need to update them on live if I want to copy over. :)

I transferred my 20 pali / epic 5 (US) over to Lam at the beginning of October.

The report was "fail" but it worked just fine.

Several people have commented that the character copy tool does not work for characters with epic levels. My experience indicates they are incorrect.

One. Bookernugget/lvl14 cleric/khyber. If it's relevant, this copy was attempted back on september 25th.

I always get redirected to a page that says "Error: page not found" (it is a ddo forum page). Also, when I look at my forums page all my characters are 'archived'. My primary toons are:

- Currently, one; Otifalcon (Rogue 14/Arti 6/Epic 1) from Cannith (attempted 27 September; may not have had the epic level at that time)
- Previously (during the MotU testing), too many to count - L20 monk a couple of times, L20 bard several times, Ranger 15/Rogue 5 a few times. All from Thelanis; all are currently successfully transferred.

-Three, all from Thelanis, all pre-MotU (transferred 31 May)
-Maraga (bard 20)
-Grynd (Ranger 15/Rogue 20)
-Donajya (Monk 20)

All show their current levels (bard with 2 levels of epic, ranger/rogue with 4, monk as barb 17) rather than their "transferred" state, which is kind of confusing - the "Current Copies" should either show their current levels on Lamaland, or as they were at the time of transfer, but not their current levels on live several months later. And of course, all the epic levels are showing up as "druid" (which makes me idly curious how an epic druid shows up, especially one who's not a full druid... but i digress).

I don't know how related it is, but 3 out of those 4 MyDDO pages are no longer functioning (only Ying works). At the time of the character copy (pre-MOTU launch) they were all functional.

Another interesting bit from the above list :

Only Gildalinde is a Druid... ( That's the UnidentifiedClass1 )
All the characters are Epic ( that's the Druid thingie as second class for all of them. )

Like the [v] that comes with the Elf race ( and break quite a few things in MyDDO ) this is a MyDDO bug.

upon logging into Lamdaland - Uurlock showed up with correct level 16 and xp - but even with it showing I have VIP - Ooclaan can't come in to play since he is a drow and I need to buy that.

logged in with Uurlock and logged out - then was able to log in with Ooclaan - full level 25. :D

Tried first character copy, which failed.
Ninil's description then became character information not available.

Tried second character copy for Ninil, which succeeded..
BUT she is now an Elf 3 ranger/1 fighter on Lama.

This toon is my completionist and the only one that I really wanted to transfer across.

I checked and the Power Rage and Extra Rage enhancements are showing up on him and they are giving extra effects (10 rages on a toon with 12 barb levels). He has bard levels too and did not get extra songs but doesn't have that
enhancement either. You can visually see the rage related ones on the character sheet.

So far 2 of 4 character copies have failed not sure about the 5th one since the password bug is back and cant log onto lamannia server :(

It's sad I had 23 toons on Lamannia all with epic gear ready to run. I now have 2 toons that are geared and ready and 21 open slots with no gear to give them and no gear in AH

Did they change the page or is something different these days? It has been a few updates since I've copied characters to Lammania.

I have tried the character copy tool a few times with no success
Now that the toons are all wiped, it would be nice to have this feature available so that we can test the new content out.

Also as some of us are in a different timezone (Australia), it would be nice to see some XP and Item handouts when we are actually online, not in bed or working.

No, but after going back and looking, it shows up as L17 Fighter/UnidentifiedClass1, this is not correct, it's a 15 druid / 2 fighter. My other druid shows up as a 10 monk/UnidentifiedClass 1 when it's actually 9 Druid/ 1 Monk.

According to the Tool, all 3 characters transfered. However when I try and Log into my Fighter Fweng Li, 20 Fighter/5 Epic Thelanis, who was in House C apparently when it was transfered, crashes the game each and every time.

2, Pangerbone (20 Druid/1 epic) and Sithullia (20 Sorc/3 Epic) both Thelanis.

With the guide npc, this is almost obsolete. With a well stocked AH from devs, or some sort of gear selection option to lama only, the copy tool would be completely useless. Which would save a lot of time and headache on both sides of the screen. :D

My human Arti Tinkerman failed, level 24 pure. And now it's stuck in the transfer list as failed so I cannot get him or something else over since he's counted towards the 5. My WF Arti level 20 managed to transfer over afterwards so I don't know what made him fail. I just noticed that it took forever for it to transfer and then came up as failed.

If you guys could clear anything with a Fail status it would be nice since he has some stuff I'd like to try out on Lam.

The character copy page has disappeared or been moved, I have tried searching for the new address but so far been unsuccessful, does anyone have the new page address as the bookmark I have now just tells me the page is not found? The bookmark I have was working after the last wipe only some weeks ago so this is new.

Unfortunately, once a character copy fails, you cannot attempt to copy that character to Lamannia again until after all characters have been wiped from Lamannia.

I try to make sure that it is easy to create a decent character from scratch on Lamannia. Hopefully SOON™ it will be even easier.

Also, if you are having issues viewing the character copy page, please remember that you need to be logged into MyDDO before clicking on the link ('http://my.ddo.com/charactercopy'). Also, if you have not logged in to DDO with your characters recently, you may run into the same "page not found" error.

that was a minor typo in the copying of the address rather than the address being wrong in my boomarked pages, i logged onto live with one of the toons and they all reappeared after 10 mins, starange really as i hadn't logged into live for a long time and they hadn't been archived previously.

Tried to copy a character (Xilphare) to Lamannia for the early preview in mind but it Failed, suprise suprise.

No warnings, just Incomplete then Failed.

The last succesful copy: Shyntaghar, 25, Rgoue, Thelanis, 2013-01-16 15:25:14 2013-01-16 15:21:50

Tried to copy 2 more characters a level 25 FvS and a lvl 12 Druid. Druid succeeded but FvS Failed.


Guess it's not the end of the world thanks to The Guide but more loot would be needed to actualy make up for the live characters.

I have seen a number of people say that their character(s) did not actually copy to Lamannia. I would like some information regarding this issue:

Do the characters that fail have a "character data unavailable" warning? Or do they look like they should transfer, but then fail to do so?
How many of your characters have failed to transfer? (Please list character names, levels, classes, and servers.)
How many of your characters have successfully transferred? (Again, please list names, levels, classes, and servers.)
Do you have characters that show the "character data unavailable" warning that you want to copy?

Note that this thread is ONLY for discussing issues with the Character Copy Tool. This is not the place to argue for or against a character wipe.

4/5 my requests transferred successfully this morning.

The one that failed did not have any warnings that it wouldn't copy. The failed one was my main (of course):

One thing I noticed when I logged into Lammania was that my account status is still showing as Free Account when I am currently premium. Also although I was able to select drow character during character creation, it does not allow me to create one and there's a remark saying I need to purchase it first.

Then I tried to copy my existing 3 toons from Wayfinder over. All failed, I previously have no issues copying toons from other servers (Thelanis/Sarlona etc) over.

The 3 toons from Wayfinder I tried to copy over are
1) Cxazy (2nd life: Human 15fighter/2Paladin/1rogue ; first life was a drow)
2) Cantan (1st life: Drow 1Cleric/2Paladin/1fighter)
3) Nightingal (1st life: Drow FvS lvl 5)

This is accurate to my experience currently. It seems there is a link missing according to the given instructions on how to copy a char.

Well considering that I have 70 names listed on the char copy page.. wow. I had no idea. Some are long gone and deleted (trying out builds before TR was even being considered, with a lower character cap). Some of those names bring back memories...

I sit at only 20, but as they dumped only the existing characters when they closed Europe, it cleared all my pre-Reincarnation re-roll count...
( as I too spent a lot of time trying characters... and deleting them to re-roll them another way, or to free slots... )

Can't copy. I get the error message "Error retrieving your player information."

Pretty sure this is because I had to create a new account, because the old one wasn't working.

HOWEVER, I just tried to log in with my old account, and instead it logged me in on the new account. So now it seems like my old forum account no longer exists. Yay.

Wow, I made a lot of characters. Some which got deleted years ago. Some which don't look familiar.

...And one character is missing. My main character. He shows up as being copied over to lammania before, but is not on the list of characters to be copied.

Oh well. The other copies I just attempted worked.

Three bugs:

I could not log in to the Character Copy tool on a Mac. I had to do it from Windows.

I could not copy a character (Jolette of Orien) to Lamania. Despite the wipe, it says she is already copied over there. But she is not there.

Many deleted and rerolled toons are showing up in the list.

None of the characters that I want to copy to Lamannia are listed. The ones that I want to copy are still in the list as having been copied as of April 15. Another issue is with deleted toons; there is no way with the new character copy tool to differentiate between deleted toons with the same name.

Only got the page to load once last night.
Allowed me to only transfer one character that was deleted ages ago. Xappet a lvl4 caster
I wanted to transfer a lvl 20 arcane archer.
If I am to test the stuff I need to be able to transfer Smigit lvl 24 dwarf fighter.
The one time I got the page to load had a long list of characters with no info on them just names.
Some were there multiple times.

- I can't even access the tool anymore.

When I try the link provided it says for me to log in to use the chr.copy tool, but I am already logged in! I have tried logging into the forums from the game as well and it says the same.

Updated: Tried again and now I have the same issue as the few previous posts; it comes up but lists the characters from the Previous Copy Status, which should have been cleared with the wipe to make them available for copy again.

Not only do I see a lot of toons I don't even remember having made on the character copy screen, but when I select my 2nd life Barbarian 18 (Visik.. 1st life Cleric) and copy him over, although the copy shows as successful, he copies as a L4 cleric (from Argonessen if that matters). Not sure how long ago he would have been a L4 cleric, but it's not less than 6 months.

Add to that the fact that the toons I copied over for the enhancement preview show as already copied and not able to be recopied, and I'd say the tool is not WAI.

Also, if you could add sorting.. alphabetically by toonname, alphabetically by toonname within server.. something less chaotic than the current random list would be helpful.

Before the character reset, I had my 4 most important toons on Lamannia
Now, it seems all 4 are still there, according to the char copy, but they obviously arent
Theirfor I do not get any option at all to copy those toons over to Lam

The funniest of all is, that my completionist was actually in he list of possible toons to be copied, so obviously I select and copy him over. It even succeeded according to the char copy tool
Once I logged in though, it seemed that my completionist now all of the sudden is a level 4 first life toon with no gear what so ever.

Look into this pelase, as this obviously isnt the way how I even wanne consider testing out the new stuff
I wanne do it with my own toons and my own gear, or I wont log in at all
Get it fixed, or ya wont see me till the next character whipe (just to see if I can at least copy them then over)

I just got done transfering EVERY Lyriss from arg that the list shows but NONE of them are my current Lyriss they are ALL deleted ones from at least 1-6 years ago! :mad::mad::mad: Lets see if I can get my other one to work.

The comments from above all seem to pint out that the database for toon available to copy is severely out of date, is this the reason behind there being no reset on which toons the tool thinks have been copied over? As if we all were copying over our most recently working toons and found them to be severely out of date there would be much more said about the problem? Please can we have an answer to why after a server wipe the toon transfer list was not reset? It is all well and good that we can level toon quickly but there are many pieces of equipment that are not available without a heavy grind to re-acquire and some just not available at all without the relevant event running ie cove stuff.

It seems that whateer database they're using for the character copy tool. It's calling from the same oen they use for the paid service to restore deleted characters. You would think this would be an easy thing... Apparently it's not... At least for Turbine... The chracter copy tool has NEVER worked properly, and likely never will. I mean heck, they just revamped the bug reporting tool... And well.... If this was a hamburger joint and someone ordered a medium rare cheeseburger with pickles, lettuce, onions, and mustard. They would get a well done hamburger with no cheese, and it would have tomatoes, and ketchup on it. Stumble, crawl, flail to the right, flail to the left.... Faceplant.......

Ok, as far as testing for Lamannia is concerned I get that:
1. This is completely voluntary.
2. Things are not guaranteed to work as advertised.

However, this "Beta" character copy tool isn't Beta. Heck, it isn't even Alpha. This tool should be in a pre-Alpha development state with the way that it is currently working. Any QA tester would take one glance at this and kick it back to development telling them that there is no way that this tool is going out to the public.

So this is me, looking at you, Turbine. Act like a professional development company. Stop releasing (and this description is being generous) half-baked code to the public. I get that bugs happen, but this character copy tool release isn't a bug, it's just very poor project management and development.

P.S. Before posting this I gave the character copy tool a 24 hour grace period, just in case the incorrect code base was released and you were scrambling to fix the mistake. Apparently, that is not the case.

Another week slips by and still no reset on the the copied toon tool, still no word on why so many folk that have been able to copy toons after so many times of being unable to on previous resets only to find they have a vastly out of date toon, now you have cut one of the three new quests as we need to buy something that isn't for sale yet so that we can run one more quest that doesn't drop anything of real value to high level toons. Am I missing something or is someone working really hard at driving everyone away from this game from the inside? There is also a serious lack of events going on making Lamma even more of a ghost town than the above issues on their own would achieve, some answers please Turbine would be appreciated. When will we be able to copy our equipped toons over again? When will the pre-order become available so that we have more than 2 new quests to test? When will there be more events dropping the stuff that isn't available in the dojo such as cannith mats, e-star mats, alchemical mats (the proper ones not just juggernaut parts but imbued shards etc), shards for the daily dice game etc?

Just reset the tool so that it thinks that no one has copied characters over wipe the characters on the server again. Then set a filter that excludes deleted characters from the list of characters that can be copied. If you want people fully testing your update you will have to make the time to do this. Please?

Every other link on the site/in google/under a rock does NOT have the underscore between character and copy, and therefore, is turning up a 404.

Now that I'm able to get to the util, it still shows Margarethe as copied, when she doesn't exist on Lama anymore.

Please rectify this situation, Margarethe is the only character I play.

This is my result after the wipe on the character copy tool. I have not requested any characters be copied after the wipe, and my account on lammania shows zero characters. These are all characters I had on lammania before the wipe, and I don't believe I had transferred any others. Just out of curiousity, and I doubt you can answer these questions, but does the character copy mark characters in the live database in order to keep track of which ones are copied? If so, this could be resulting in an issue where the lammania database is being wiped, but characters on the live database are not being unmarked, resulting in the character copy tool telling the player they were copied. I'm just speculating here though, hopefully this issue can be solved soon.

The bigger issue is that a lot of folks, such as myself, who really like their main characters on the live servers are not going to bother testing on Lamannia because they cannot use their favorite toons. It may sound silly to some people, but I simply just don't care to play a new toon at this point nor try to recreate something that exists already on the live servers. I'll just play on the live servers, thanks. So, despite me routinely giving Lamannia a run through and reporting bugs etc... I am just not interested this time around as a result of the character copy debacle.

Ninil my main on Argo is Lvl 25
Human 12 monk/7 druid/1 ranger

Tried first character copy, which failed.
Ninil's description then became character information not available.

Tried second character copy for Ninil, which succeeded..
BUT she is now an Elf 3 ranger/1 fighter on Lama.

I had similar issue, I transferred my character about a month ago while lammania was down and just logged into it to see it as a 4 bard/1 rogue 28 pt build which was my toon 3.5 years ago when I first started playing ddo. I deleted the toon and am now unable to even access the character copy screen to see if I could possibly copy it again because it keeps saying I need to log in no matter how many times I log in

Any time I try to do anything at all it tells me I have to login and after entering the correct details it just takes me back to the login screen without any error or reason why it has not worked. The weird thing is that it will let me make forum posts even though the login has failed.Bring back the old forum - maybe some people think it was not as 'pretty' (to which I disagree) but at least the **** thing worked most of the time.

I'd love to copy some of my epic toons over to Lamannia, but there is the slight problem of the forum name associated with that subscription is still broken and hasn't been fixed by Turbine since they broke it. I created a temporary id for that subscription, but it doesn't point to it. It instead points to my second subscription. I really would love it if they went back to old forum format and forum ids worked correctly, but I afraid that they would just screw it up even worse than it already is.

I just wanted to give you an update on the Character Copy situation for Lamannia. We have just reset the Character Copy Tool ('http://www.ddo.com/en/character_copy'), so you can finally copy over characters that were marked as "Copied" but were no longer on Lamannia. Since we have not Wiped all characters from Lamannia, Characters that are currently on Lamannia will be listed as available to copy, but those copies will "fail" (according to the Character Copy Tool). This shouldn't be an issue since the 5 Character Copy limit was removed.

Unfortunately, other issues with the Character Copy Tool are still a work in progress, and anyone unable to log in to the Forums are still unable to access Character Copy. I apologize for the inconvenience. I know it isn't perfect, but please remember that the Test Dojo ('https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/414629-Test-Dojo-on-Lamannia') is available to help with leveling and gearing characters from scratch. Soon the Test Dojo's door in the Marketplace will be working properly (so it won't mysteriously disappear!) I will also start filling the Auction House with items in preparation for the upcoming Enhancement Preview on Lamannia. (I will start with items from Epic Elite Gianthold Quests.)

I just wanted to give you an update on the Character Copy situation for Lamannia. We have just reset the Character Copy Tool ('http://www.ddo.com/en/character_copy'), so you can finally copy over characters that were marked as "Copied" but were no longer on Lamannia. Since we have not Wiped all characters from Lamannia, Characters that are currently on Lamannia will be listed as available to copy, but those copies will "fail" (according to the Character Copy Tool). This shouldn't be an issue since the 5 Character Copy limit was removed.

Unfortunately, other issues with the Character Copy Tool are still a work in progress, and anyone unable to log in to the Forums are still unable to access Character Copy. I apologize for the inconvenience. I know it isn't perfect, but please remember that the Test Dojo ('https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/414629-Test-Dojo-on-Lamannia') is available to help with leveling and gearing characters from scratch. Soon the Test Dojo's door in the Marketplace will be working properly (so it won't mysteriously disappear!) I will also start filling the Auction House with items in preparation for the upcoming Enhancement Preview on Lamannia. (I will start with items from Epic Elite Gianthold Quests.)

I love the test dojo and adding items, please add raid items as well if possible. This is a great way for players to test builds and characters. I really appreciate you making this feature available to us. Your awesome squeak! :)

Though I would like them to "release it when it's ready"... given the amount of dev time taken trying to maintain two enhancement systems the past year of updates... I'd almost just prefer they kick us in the teeth with the new enhancements and release it with the expansion even with bugs and TBD's. That way at least system/bugfix dev time is going towards only the new system and we start making forward progress.

Hmmm would it maybe be possible to "perma-spawn" bound/raid items like those in the big loot-room in the test dojo?

I mean I totally love that room, but the loot in it is kinda outdated for most testing ...

It would be absolutely, incredibly, uber-awesome if you could add items from the more recent raids (CitW, FoT, MA, LoB, ToD) ... and also lots of important: heroic commendations ... (no offense intended, but) putting tons of flawless dragon scales on the ah is kinda pointless as one needs 3 commendations to forge an armor out of them ...

Or maybe an NPC ( or a set of NPCs... one for each raid ) with whom you interract so that it gives you exactly the item you want...
Or maybe a chest ( or a set of chest... one for each raid ) that you open to find the complete choice of raid loot....

Now it might be tricky for Shroud, but what we need from Shroud is the shards of power, all the rest can be found laying in the Dojo already.

Oh hey character copy error buddy! Yeah I'm getting that too :\ It is quite frustrating. Its hard to test my builds without access to my geared/tomed/multiple life characters.

For some reason when I pre-ordered MotU Turbine created a second account for me which I have since turned into a mule account. Now when I try to use the character copy I am only given the option to copy toons from this second account with no way to switch to my main account that I have found. I have turned in both a ticket and a bug report on this with no response so far.

Can one of the Dev's please tell me how to switch which account is my main account? (Hint it has level 20+ toons in it, not just level 1-2 toons.) I would really like to take a few of them on the new quests when they come out on Lamannia.

Also when are the new quests expected to be released in Beta?

Only one of my character failed to copy. I think it's probably because I had DDO running in the background and that character online at the time. Anyways to reset it again so I can copy it ? Character name Myralyss on Thelanis server.

You have to wait for them to do a server wide character wipe and then they reset the tool. (Not likely to happens until they want to test something after the expansion unless they suddenly make some major changes.)

I get "Error retrieving your game subscription" when I hit the copy link :( Yes, I am logged in, and logged out/back in and it still happens. Probably something related to the new forums messing up my account.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

I'm getting the exact same error. Prior to closed beta it worked fine for me, but when closed beta dropped I lost lam forum/character copy access (despite having preordered and being able to log into lam) I assume that's related?

I haven't played for couple of months, since billing fiasco, decided to try new enhancements and maybe resub and get an expansion if I like what I see, but I guess it won't happen since I'm getting "Error retrieving your player information" :mad:.

I saw fewer threads about failed character copies so took the chance all was working and downloaded Lamannia. To answer my own question, copying is still full of fail.

No. I got a 'retry' status message. And then failed a few minutes later.

Many since Motu test times. But this round, I only tried one. Pomegranate, 18 ranger/1 monk/1 rogue/3 epic, Thelanis.

None in over a year. A few months before Motu, I never experienced a failure.

No.

After all this, I deleted the Lamannia client. A few minutes later, I deleted my DDO client. I don't even care enough to explain why (but rest assured, it's hardly just because of one failed character copy.) Good news, you can have all my stuff.
