View Full Version : regarding empty friends lists and missing chat channels, etc...
i don't know if this will help, as the issue is not happening to me, but i did notice something odd. i have someone who is in my guild AND on my friend list. (i had friended him before i guild invited him). normally when he logs in, i see two messages, one from the guild saying so-and-so has logged on, then a few seconds later a second from my friends list saying so-and-so has logged on. and i've learned from experience that he's not truely logged in till the second message. today he logged on, and i only ever saw the guild message. never the friend's list message. i sent him a tell after a few minutes, and he said his friends list is wiped, his chats aren't working. he couldn't see guild chat.
it seems to me that the game things he's not actually fully logged on, so the chats and friends list aren't populating as they should. relogging doesn't fix it. i hope that helps.

I was just in group with someone who could not read party chat or hear voice chat. He could receive tells, and relogging did fix it.
i forgot to mention... i have bug reported this issue. just wanted to get the word out

Lost count on how much times I tried to reloggin, so I can say that relog won't help.
Looks like DDO is no longer multiplayer

From my own thread where I was having the same problem. It's fixed now thanks to this.
I helped a guildie with this fix earlier, follow the steps on this link and it will be fixed.

This is true
funny thing, trying to enter this addres in guild motd replies with text forbidden
put http://goo.gl/ijZwP into your guild MOTD instead. easier to deal with, and no need to worry about odd censoring.
any word of an official stance on this? lots of people are wondering... lots of people are upset...

I've experienced the same problem, nothing on friends list. Happened since Update 16.
Also, squelch list is wiped.
Turbine please respond to question.

I often export my friends list. re-importing it on toons with busted lists seems to work, although one of my friends was inexplicably set to anon, so i couldn't see him till he took off anon AND relogged. strange.
Oh, and yay on using me in your sig, Katz :)

happened to me too, but thanks to the FAQ guide from that link (which doesnt seem to be working atm) It was fixed. what you need to do is sign completely off ddo.
go to
documents/dungeons and dragons/userpreferences.ini
edit it and go down to
[Net]
UserSpecifiedPort=0
and change it to
UserSpecifiedPort=9000
save it and then relog into ddo. should be fixed, if not, check your firewall and make sure port 9000 is allowed.

Quicker and more informative than what Turbine has offered to date.

This is a different bug. It has been around for years. It hits me or someone I am grouped with every couple of months.

Now bug hit me again (on at least 1 character), and setting this line in .ini file is not working.
Also, the article describing how to fix it dissapeared from knowledge base.
W.T.F. turbine?
For me, it feels like I just got banned, since I can't play the game.

I guess all the server restarts broke this again.
I think it was fixed patch 1 and in those release notes.
hopefully just a rolling bug.
