View Full Version : Un-nerf collectible bags!

From the U16 release notes:
Ancient Giant Relics, Ancient Dragon Relics, Ancient Elven Relics, and all types of Dragonscales, are now ingredients instead of collectibles.
What? WHY?
We already have way too many ingredients, and relatively few collectibles. And Relics are something you COLLECT, then turn in. They are not used as crafting ingredients. Same with black/white/blue/green dragonscales.
Plus, Collectible Bags are nicely categorized and sorted, while the contents of ingredient bags resemble a giant steaming pile of dung and household trash.
Why do I feel this is just a way to try to sell more DDO Store Huge/Gargantuan Ingredient Bags?
If there's some real reason for this, a reason that makes sense, rather than just nerfing everyone's Large Collectible Bags, I'd love to hear it.
And if the devs can't articulate a good reason, please UNDO this change.

Regardless of what actual reason the devs have, they should undo this change, or change the ingredient bags to be sorted like the collectible bags are.

These 'collectibles' never really fitted in with the rest of the items in the collectible bags. The other collectibles are all nicely categorized by hand-in location, while dragon scales and relics are under some weird miscellaneous tab. I can imagine why they change this, makes the collectibles bag look a lot neater. I guess they will also stop counting mabar/cove items as collectibles now. That said, the developers should consider making nicely structured ingredients bag as well.

Great... Now I need a bigger ingridient bag, we already have too many ingredients so they decided to add *more*?
I fear updates, not because of the bugs, not because of the broken stuff or missing buffs in my airship, nope it's the fear they'll add yet another crafting mechanic to this ingredient filled game.
Seriously, across 8 toons I have 6 large bags full and I need to log in and out from each of them to find who had what. I used to keep stuff in unbound bags in my bank but the times stuff has been lost that way pout an end to that.
If anything I would have prefered they made sutff from the Madness chain collectibles...

I assumed this change was made because people leaned toward getting larger ingredient bags and sufficed with medium collectibles and this was an attempt to help most folks out. Seemed reasonable to me.

My main collectables bag {on my crafter} has more than 90 items in it - I put expensive collectables {Feverblanches, Drowshoods, Eberron Shards etc.} in a second Bag so they're easy to find.
A Medium Collectables Bag holds 30 items!
Yes I also have a number of Ing Bags BUT this change just causes more hassle with Ing Bags {No Sorting system} and is Bad!

Hopefully one day, about U21 they will make the ing bags sortable. Let us wait :)

With all the ingredients they can at least increase the capacity for the bags, which btw should be an easy fix.

To be fair the red bag seems to fill first, even the large one.
There's no longer need to keep a spare in bank since now those things will go in the green bag.
The green bags are also somewhat easier to get than the red bags.
e.g. you get free green bags and a large from favor, which also sell cheaper at the ah.

I hate this change, I keep 5 bags on one toon just so I can organize them properly the way I want. If you are going to do this change, at LEAST let us sort them like a quiver, in which case we can move items up and down, or like the collectables bag. You know Shroud, Cannith Crafting, epic items( scrolls, shards, seals), etc etc

Don't know about you, but with only 2 Large red bags, I have plenty of space left over, but I need 7 Large green bags worth to hold the gazillion different types of Ingredients. I'm just lucky I've been unlucky with Epic scrolls/seals/shards, or I'd need even more.

Large verisons of either can be had from the 12 vendor in the Marketplace.

I like this change. I don't do crafting, and this will save me completely the trouble of carrying a red bag. Now they'll be in one of my green bags. Score!

I imagine that turbine does not cater these kind of changes to people that can get stuff from the game.

This makes me wonder what will happen to the collection I already have of them, nestled safely away in the collectible bag in the bank...
Hmm.

Probably will be needed for epic gh crafting or something like that.

They will stay in collectible bag until you take it out.

I like this change, makes it easier on my chars that dont have large collect bags.
(large craft bags are cheap and easy to get)
now if all that other stuff would also go into craft bags i would be happy
(outsider tokens, planar shards, reavers stuff...)

Mabar and Cove items are under a "Festival" heading in your collectibles bag.
As for why this change? I figure it's because you'll need those relics to get epic Gianthold gear. So, it makes sense that they would now be considered "ingredients" rather than "collectibles". I am still not a fan of the change. I've got a Huge Collectibles bag on nearly all my characters, but I only have a Gargantuan Ingredients bag on one character. The ingredients bags for all my other characters fill very quickly.
People have been buying bags as needed due to the previous definitions for years now, and now those definitions change. It was also not initiated well, having previous relics stay in the red bag but new relics earned go into green bags.

The only reason I can see for the change is that you had to take the relics out of the bag to give them to Crag. If you still have to take them out of the ingredients bag, that will be so much worse. Try finding three separate relics mixed in a ing bag (I have the biggest one).

Because this takes time. Why do I want to have to transfer ingredients into my shared bank every time I play a character who is not my ranger? This would also mean I would have to log onto my ranger every day and clear that **** out of the shared bank. I already use the shared bank to get stuff to my bard for selling (since she has an 81 haggle and none of my other characters' haggle skill is anywhere near that).
I've already got 2 shared bank slots used by a pair of ingredients bags (one for seals, shards and scrolls and the other primarily for Shroud crafting ingredients, but it is receiving the spill-over from the first bag and is now nearly full itself). It would be nice if DDO-store-bought bags were bta instead of btc. I would love to be able to put a Gargantuan Ingredients bag into the shared bank for all this ****.

Meh, just type "relic" in the bag search box.
However, I do agree its absurd to have them be ingredients now, I have a large bag that is filled with just epic ingredients, that isn't counting all the Shroud, Cannith, Alchemical, etc ingredients that is taking up my other bags. Funny thing is many other collectables are technically ingredients as well, yikes.

The relics are a little of both if you have the older versions of the Reaver's named items. You have to use relics to change to the new Reaver named Item to use the Seal on it. Maybe later they will put all the collectibles that are used in the Stone Changing alter and the crafting devices in the ingredients bag as well. wow just think of all the extra ingredient bags that will be needed then.

I would be happy with being able to label my bags first AND to have ing bags sorted inside.
My main has 2 large collectable bags, 1 gem bag, and 2 ing bags. Then I have 2 med. collectable bags, 4 large ing (shroud ing, epic, misc (challenge, risia, etc), crafting) bags in the shared bank. And one alt has two more collectable bags for the cove & festivult.
And thats not even counting bags on each friggin toon to collect and then pass along.
I can't get into store bags as they bind and it is so much easier to ship a bag via shared to another toon as I need too.

I would totally agree with the OP complaint... I am bursting at the seams with green bags for different stuff: one cannith crafting , one for bound shards, one for unbound prefix shards, one for unbound suffix shards, one for epic, one for scarabs, one for house c challenge stuff etc......
Switching scales, relics etc... from red to green bags complicates an already bad situation.
I would totally support Turbines changes today if it means they will be adding increased functionality, such as:
1) Better sort function in the bag: alphabetical vs type (like the red bags)
2) Include "dump bag into": inventory, bank, shared bank buttons. Yes I am very lazy
3) The ability to name your green bags. Instead of having five "small" gredient bags in my shared bank, allow me to rename them to things like "Cannith", "Scarabs" or "WhinersUnite"
Most of those ingredients are bound to account, so instead of using a slot for each one of them on every character by splitting the stacks between them all, why not just transfer them all to the one with the gargantuan bag?
Because then the relics need to be redistributed AGAIN when needed for whatever reason, when using one toon to mule them.

Oh, dude, this is just asking for it. You will lose everything.
Advice to anyone who doesn't already know this. DO NOT PUT ANY IMPORTANT ITEMS IN BAGS IN SHARED BANK ACCOUNTS.
EVENTUALLY THE LAG MONSTER WILL EAT THEM!!!!
I can't stress this enough!
When transfering ingredients, do it ONE AT A TIME. Turbine has not, nor will they ever, fix this completely.
