View Full Version : Why can't I make a fat guy?

With all of the basically unnoticeable cosmetic differences available at character creation, I really wish I could make a stereotypical jolly fat merchant looking guy. I'm probably alone here, but a couple of different body types would be sweet. I'd even be willing to drop a couple hundred tps if it was available as a cosmetic kit type thing.

I agree. All of my toons (check sig) could be true fatarses.

Absolutely. I would love to make a big fat half-orc monk like Chris Farley from Beverly Hills Ninja... with tusks.

Yeah a dwarf in that gorgon armor looks pretty dumpy. But no beer belly. :(

Some people may be offended by the lack of body types. If something exists, someone, somewhere, will be offended.
I think the armor skins would be a bigger obstacle.

I think you should hit up the Suggestions forum XD (Although I bet this has been suggested already. Oh well. I'd still /sign it!)
I'd definitely love to have more body heights, shapes and sizes. In some other MMOs the customization is freaking AMAZING! For some people, the customization really can make or break a game (I have a friend who quit DDO mainly due to this. She didn't play too long to begin with, but still.)
Also, it just doesn't seem right that, say, a Human Fighter has the same build as a Human Sorc or Wizard.

I haven't seen any effeminate men being offended by the presence of half-elves in the game. This should be fine.

We're not fat, we're stout and BIG-BONED!
I'd like to see more body types too; but creating & animating new character models is more labor-intensive than a new armor skin.

Why can't I make a fat guy?
I was able to make a fat guy. I parked his @ss in front of DDO for 4 months and fed him nothing but beer and pizza.
All it really takes is a little dedication!

Not a bad idea but I would rather have different shaped warforged to choose from. I hate how broad shouldered they are.

I could get behind a few model variations for each race & gender, but not complete customization. I really don't want to see what people would make out there. Too many people would enjoy creating goofy character models and undermine the general atmosphere of the game world. The game has enough self inflicted problems in that direction as it is.
In a stand-alone game it is fine, you are only impacting your own immersion, but in an on-line game you are impacting the immersion of everyone you encounter. Some people would get enjoyment from that, but I choose to believe it is just not a perspective most folks see.

Coincidentally, I lost just over 40 lbs after I saw Zombieland.
The sequence of events is accurate but a relationship between the two may or may not exist. ;)

I think this has been brought up a dozen or so times in the Suggestion and Ideas area, some days I wish we had an real Suggestions and Ideas area as opposed to the Graveyard-Forum that we have now, where good ideas go to die.

I asked for that a while back. The whole barbie & ken scenario is old and tired.
Can we get some options?
What if I want a fat, skinny, bow legged, bucktooth, pimply faced, big headed pencil neck geek instead of captain america or wonder woman?
Also. All BEARS and all WOLVES do not look alike. Can we please get some variations there as well?

It's a fantasy world where we make deals with demons, let a man with an octopus head perform brain surgery and run quests where the object is to get to a 60 foot tall giant who is in the middle of a playgirl photo session.
Many of us are followed around by a collection of mass hallucinatory imaginary creatures that other monsters can't see. (companions)
Everywhere you look there are talking animals and last night I had an epic fight with a tree who was guarded by a dozen GEIKO representatives with crossboows.
What could people possibly make that would seem absurd or out of place?

Bewbforged?
My first toon ever was a female bard, 2 lives later it's a female WF built like a .... brickhouse but casts with the voice of a female. I mean: in a soft feminine voice.

Would you want this if the Alt took up two or three character slots?
Just a thought, but I was thinking if Turbine followed the lead of some airlines who charge for two seats for "The Fluffy"... :D
Seriously, more distinguishing features for Alts would be nice, if it could be done without adding too much to the graphics processing load.

Also. All BEARS and all WOLVES do not look alike. Can we please get some variations there as well? They gave us hair/beard options and they weave in and out of the armor skins. So if they gave us fat/skinny options we would just have bellies sticking through armor and thin necks popping out of Captain America shaped armor skins.
I'm sure this could be fixed, I just doubt it would be very cost effective to do so.

Nothing particularily impedes having a choice of endo, ecto and meso shaped body in the character models.
Cardio can surely be obviated for a high magic setting, likely can have a fat toon that is strong like a bull or bear.
Also, the excuse of having less character models for performance is not quite good for a game with instances.

I like the idea of body shape being based on a combination STR and CON.
Not entirely sure how but it would mean 8 STR Wizards would look decidedly weedy when compared to 24 STR Barbarians (enhancements and enchantments don't count).
Maybe STR affects musculature, CON affects overall height.

height and weight slider bars... purely cosmetic.
could even be a ddo store option : advanced cosmetic options - (account 500+ tp), character (200 tp lasts through renincarnations)
Personaly id like to see fat and skinny, short and tall variants of all races, differnet bodytypes for warforge (scout, female mod, male mod)

I once made a Female Human Rogue - Looked like an Olympic Sprinter!
Seriously - Why do the petite human females NOT get to adventure?
Why the devs have never got around to adding in customizable body shapes I have no idea - Personally Elves and Dwarves are pretty standardised body shape wise and I'd never consider making one that didn't fit that standard.
BUT - Humans, Halflings, H-Elves, H-Orcs - These can and do come in many shapes and sizes in fantasy - DDO is way behind the curve here!
As for WF - We just need the WF Scout model - Appearance free - Stats P2P!

In DDO no one is:
Left handed
Fat
Flat chested (gotta compete with the silicone-enhanced dryads)
Now you know why there are no children either. All the imperfect non-conformist ones are drowned in Korthos aqueduct shortly after birth.

Well theres a lot of things that should be added:
- fat and really thick guys
- new WF shapes - at least 1 more, the smaller one scout
- new hairs.. COME ON! Im so bored.... even if only in ddostore for points - give me some long ponytail or just really long hair. Only 3 female hair styles are good looking and Im bored that at least 70% of population is wearing the same 3-4 hair styles.... : P
- tall and short characters. Yes... I know halfling cant be as tall as human but certainly there should be some differences in size.
Chest modification hm.... on 1 sidde Id like to create flat little female halfling ninja but... I can imagine people who would use it in the wrong way ... : P
