So, my question is related to the drop rates of named items in the Web of Chaos chain (Lords of Dust, Servants of the Overlord, The Spinner of Shadows).

I'm mostly wondering if the base items have a lower drop rate on epic difficulties compared to heroic. I've been running this chain on epic hard (occasionally EE) an average of 3 times a week for several months. Bizarrely, I have all the parts to epic the Doublecross Bow... except the base item. Huh? Never seen it drop.

Is this a difference of drops by epic versus heroic difficulty or are certain base items just a rare drop all the time? I see some base items drop often-- Golden Guile, the items with Templar in the name, Darkstorm Helm, Flameward, Rakshasa Hide, etc. On the other hand, I've only gotten one base item Envenomed Blade and Luminous Truth and zero Doublecross Bows. The Silver Slinger and Bow of the Silver Flame seem to drop extremely infrequently too.

I'm asking because I've really run this whole chain to the point where I should've at least gotten all the base items. I know the seal/shard drop rates are insanely low, but some of these base items seem like their in the territory of Ring of Spell Storing rarity?

Have I just been very unlucky? Do some of these base items drop more frequently on Heroic difficulty? What is going on with the seal and shard droprate in this chain too? Any input?

The drop rates were always screwy in there, and the multiple epic difficulties only made it worse. For base items, I've found heroic elite to drop the most by far.

Good lord.

Thanks both of you. I knew something bizarre and counter-intuitive was going on in there...
