View Full Version : A New Invasion elite neg levels spam?

Its been a while since I flagged a toon for ToD and have never actually done the drop down the hole end boss fight myself. Tonight I was bored and decided to take my lvl 22 monk build into the quest on elite to flag. I chewed through the entire map sporting 110AC and 22% dodge with ease. Got to the hole, buffed, and dropped. As soon as I hit bottom, I got hit with 2 neg lvls (deathblock item on, saves at 52/49/55!) I cranked out some major dps on the pit fiend real fast but within 15 secs, I got neg lvl'd 11 times to miniscule hp. Did I miss something? I know there is a healing curse thing that is easily removed with pots but that many neg lvls that fast with saves I have?

Neg Levels don't allow any saving throw.
Apart from Deathward / Neg Energy Absorption items, one protection against Energy Drain and Enervation is theoretically Spell Resistance, but I don't think players can get it to high enough levels to protect against monsters that cast those spells.

Thx for the response Deathdefy. I just thew out my items and saves for a reference point. I forgot to mention that I could basically stand in spot and beat down the pit fiend w/o having to worry about jumping tiles is all. I also had SR22 on. Was my experience typical for the quest is what I really wanted to point out. Ive never heard anyone complain about being neg lvl'd to death in there.

Buy a potion of Deathward from Eveningstar challenge Turn in (Druid trader) or get a couple of Visor of the Flesh Render Guards (1 clicky of 7 mins Death Ward) completing Assault on Summerfield quest chain (Tangleroot)

A Silver Flame Talisman from the Necropolis would also help a great deal

The mabar festival also will have deathward potions available from trade-in vendors, assuming they get it fixed. Probably the easiest and cheapest way to get them.

I'll have to do it again and make a point to make sure I have DW running. Im 99% sure I had it goin. Im usually good about popping my visor clickie for boss fights.

If you have the 3 piece eveningstar monk set, you can stay in fire stance for a free restoration on almost every 20 you roll. It might be possible to stay ahead of the drains this way, though a silver flame necklace or deathward clickie would ideally be better.

You won't stay ahead as actual time spent DPSing the boss isn't all that high in that fight.
Death Ward from a clickie is a must, IMO.

I mention it more as a "Oh silly me, I just remembered that I need death ward in here and left my visor in the bank" sort of thing. It also helps you gain levels back if your first indication that you've forgotten your clickie is the neg levels you just got. Pop the clickie then proceed to remove the negs you already have. It would be highly unlikely you'll survive the entire encounter on this alone, but if you were two manning it or in a full group, you could survive.

I did it again yesterday or so and made it a point to use my visor clickie. No negs at all. I guess I just missed it last time but I swear I double checked everything before I dropped down. Oh well, its WAI. Thx all for responses.
