Effect icons

I haven't played all summer and having returned; I see much has changed. You folks had a busy summer.

One difference is that I no longer get an "effect icon" displayed when I get mail IG. It is a tiny little change, yet I did appreciate it.

Is there a way to choose what effect icons are displayed? I could not find such in the UI options tab, /help commands or in the threads search here. Is it just a casualty to an update?
