I have completed Unquiet Graves and Impossible Demands... Now I am on the quest, The Darkening: The Lost Thread.

I'm looking for Cormul Haythorne to advance the quest, but he isn't there. There is a tool tip for him, but no quest-giver.

I can't get the quest or advance to any of the later quests.

Are many people having this bug? My other character experienced this, but restarting solved the problem. I've tried it a couple of times now and it doesn't seem to bring Cormul back.

Is there a work around for this? If I get the quest from a 'share', how will I turn the quest in to get the completion and move on?

Mr. Cow seemed to have a idea why and how to resolve

To make Cormul available as a quest giver for The Thread of the Weave, one first needs to collect their end reward for Beyond the Rift from Elminster in the town square area of Eveningstar (where the bank and auctioneer linger).

Thank ye, that worked.

I never talk to ye corny old wizard with ye pointy hat.
I find the whole Forgotten Realms such a corny and predictable, typical Tolkein rip-off fantasy setting.

Get me back to Stormreach please! I am a city-bred halfling.

Edit: Must spread some reputation around before giving it to ye again, sir.

Mr. Cow is always full of knowledge on little things like this.

Thou Shall Not Pass... without talking to the wizard first.
Oh wait, wrong wizard.

I'm having the same issue with not seeing Cormul. Since I TR'd, I already had a eveningstar key, so I teleported to eveningstar without doing the Lord of Dust chain. Is there anyway to fix this without doing the Lord of Dust chain and Beyond the Rift?

Well if you can get to eveningstar , you can just do Beyond the rift. As that doesn't 'require' the lord of dust chain , though for easy access to that area it does require the chain to be completed.

Oh you're right, that worked! Thanks!

So, uhm, guys. Did I get this correct:
TRs with Key to the City can teleport to Eveningstar, then take the portal to Spinner's Prison, take the quest Beyond the Rift from Tavnar Kronnak and continue from there. These characters can now get flagged for CitW raid, however, they cannot pass to Spinner's Prison from Harbor, i.e., they can only access Forgotten Realms via the Key to the City (with its 1 hour timer).

I want to update http://ddowiki.com/page/Menace_of_the_Underdark_%28story_arc%29

Yes, that is my experience, at least so far. I used the key to go to eveningstar > cavern > Spinner's prison and got the quest "Beyond the Rift". After completing that quest and taking the end reward from Elminster, Cormul becomes visible and I was able to complete "The Lost Thread". I finished "Battle for Eveningstar" and moving on to the underdark Houses quests right now. I can only assume I can flag for CITW with no issue at this point, if I can't I'll let you know. And yes the wall in Harbor is still just a wall so I can't access Spinner's prison from harbor.
