UI Change: "A sound now plays when a guild levels up or achieves an optional quest objective."
Maybe I missed something along the way, but how can a guild complete an optional? Or is that party-based as well, and the sound plays when the optional is done?

The Bard prestige enhancement Spellsong Vigor now works properly on Warforged.

Ancient Giant Relics, Ancient Dragon Relics, Ancient Elven Relics, and all types of Dragonscales, are now ingredients instead of collectibles. The next time they are removed from a collectible bag, they will not be able to be placed back inside. Instead, they will be able to be placed into ingredients bags.

Glabrezu demons now have a slightly wider range of spells, and do 75% to 100% more damage on their melee attacks.


This one might hurt a bit in those EE webs...

Reading through the notes, there is lots of positive and nothing for me to really complain about. Looks nice.

So, U15.2. Did it already go live and I missed it? Will it be released later? Is it canceled? Did I fall that far behind on the news during my vacation this week?

You weren't kidding about the early part...I'm trying to read the dialogue from an NPC and there are mistakes all over the place lol. The roughest of my writing doesn't contain such errors.

Many hair dyes in the DDO Store are now auctionable and tradable.
Vases in the Realms now shatter better when you break them.
Misty now congratulates the party when they've sunk the enemy fleet.
Cows are now oxen.
Several quest givers have shifted positions.


Hate to look a gifthorse in the mouth, but seriously - why is Turbine spending time and effort on these things? I mean, in terms of priorities, where does "vase-breaking animation" fit into the big scheme of things? I've never once on these forums ever seen anyone complain about how the vase animation looked.

I'm perplexed.

First impressions:

I'm curious about Primal Avatar. Focusing on both spellcasting AND two weapon fighting seems interesting, and hopefully not overly ambitious. Curious to see the details!

I'm skeptical about orbs. In most cases where saves and resistances come in handy, running/jumping/evading is usually the preferred tactic for castery types. But then, if it just acts like a caster stick, i could see some arcanes using it I suppose. It certainly doesn't offer any downside compared to an offhand scepter, except making weapon sets slightly more restrictive.

I'm excited about spellsong vigor finally working on warforged. Man, that thing has been around for so long, i thought it was a "Feature".

I'm dubious about the changes to archers focus.


Archer's Focus Offensive Ranged Stance: While you are stationary, you gain On Damage: Up to once every 2 seconds, you gain +2% competence bonus to missile damage. This effect can stack up to 15 times. Moving or using the Manyshot ability clears the stack.

Shorter cycles for ramping up Archer Focus damage makes the ability better. Five seconds to get any benefit felt way too long. And capping out at 30% bonus instead of 25% is an improvement, even if it takes longer (30 seconds vs. 25 seconds? Or am i doing the math wrong?). However, this doesn't address the main complaints about archers focus, which center around IPS being better in almost every situation, how movement is crucial to ranged combat except in big immobile raidboss fights, and how in those immobile raidboss fights, manyshot is a must, which invalidates archers focus. And while manyshot is on cooldown, archers focus is not quite enough on its own to compensate for the poor damage output of non-manyshotting Archery vs. just whipping out a good melee weapon.

Follow up question: Does this change mean that if an archer doesn't attack an enemy within 2 seconds of Archers Focus being active, they lose the buff (Whereas currently it tales 5 second of non-combat to lose the buff?) If so, that really helps marginalize this poorly performing ability even more...

Last lama coordinator was thoon iirc. We been through lots of them tho, hard to keep track.

Should read: Moving or using the Manyshot ability decreases the stack by 1 (or even make it 2).

This is a nice improvement to Archer's Focus, but let's not add a great effect and make it useless at the same time. Reducing the stack makes much more sense than clearing it. Please.

Also, you could you explain 'up to once every 2 seconds'. This implies 'no more than once every 2 seconds', which means there's a lower end as well. What's the lower end? Does this mean there's a die roll occurring? Is there a chance that you'll receive no bonus at all for some unknown amount of time? A little clarification there would be cool. Thanks.

It is called trainee work. And sometimes someone will be working on a real brain buster and need something simple to work on. These fall into that category too.

Launcher updated i logged in and i get the you need to reboot to get the high end graphics (I WISH YOU WOULD FIX THIS TO REBOOT AFTER AN UPDATE). So i closed it and reopened it, im now stuck on Connect on the launcher. Nothing i do gets it past it. Well so much for having a look at U16.

When the ship is sinking you get the trainees to bail and patch, not scrape barnacles.

New Offhand Item: Orbs

Orbs are a new type of offhand item for spellcasters to wield. Equipping an orb is like using a shield, however when you block with it, a magical barrier of force provides an Orb Bonus to your saving throws and energy resistances. This is in addition to any effects listed on the item. Note that unlike shields, orbs do not inherently increase your Armor Class and Damage Reduction.

Curious about the wording there regarding inherent DR. At present, DR application requires blocking or a PRE, and if PRR was meant, that takes additional feats. Something meant to change there, or...?

Well, for clarity, if they're using analogous functionality, they'd add to saves when held, and absorption when actively blocking, unless the note means they're also intending for shields to add some form of DR simply for being held, which I kinda doubt.

I'm delighted.

I don't have any recollection of the "vase-breaking animation" being inconsistent with other breaking animations, but if it's player-facing and they can fix it, please fix it.

All the small things that aren't game-breaking pollute the gaming environment. They are noise that de-sensitize everyone to things that should NEVER EVER have been released to live.

Please, "fix" the Vase Breaking animation, the Airship Destination menu that persists after we've arrived at the destination, the Giants in Tor that have been saying "DNT TBD ..." (when we all know they're really asking for a fresh donut and hot cup of coffee), and all the other low hanging fruit that isn't game breaking but is corrosive and calls into question the sincerity and credibility of statements such as "we truly appreciate how passionate our players are about helping DDO to be the best it can be (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=390631)".

It's all important.

I hope so. We are still missing a few things which have been mentioned as coming several times and remain absent.

- No talk of challenge re-adjustments (to fix the "double"-nerf). Both in XP and parts received, I believe, but been awhile. This was supposed to be in U16.

- No mention of many destiny fixes (an example: Perfect Balance in GMoF dodge% actually scaling 1/1/2 instead of 1/2/3 as advertised, needs fixin' and theres plenty more). Do we need more threads compiling them all again or something?

- No note about eveningstar challenge ingredients becoming BTA instead of BTC. This has come up a number of times with a "when we get to it" context... as of U16 it'll have been two updates... make some time please. Its extremely annoying that the ingredients cannot be shuffled around like every other crafting styled ingredient in the game.

- No mention of the Handwrap overhaul which was mentioned just earlier this week, and supposed to be in U16.

Etc. I know its early, I know you said more is coming, and I know there is plenty of time still to get to all that. But I also know that this stuff has to be mentioned early and often. Here (http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=4711356&postcount=86) I had pointed something out (Glitter of Fame change), which was directly commented on multiple times, seemingly to address the issue, and was in fact still completely wrong (according to the post here (http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=4713153&postcount=123)), despite the fact the change wound up exactly as suggested/suspected in the first post.

When we start seeing updated and correct notes consistently, I'll stop being paranoid well in advance =p. Until then, I don't mind pushing for some of this stuff to remain in the foreground so its not forgotten. Thanks in advance... hope I'm not disappointed!

Yea it's pretty silly. Your high rez gfx will actaully work fine, but it will nag you everytime you swap chars.

Its actaully only a command line flag tho the launcher sends the client.. has no other real impact. Just if you see "highres.dat" get updated, it generally sends that.

Workaround:
Use pylotro.. It's a far superior launcher, and doesnt send that command.

Archer's focus now cycles down at a slower rate than it cycles up (4 seconds down vs 2 seconds up). I was fighting some bandits on the High Road and managed to get it up to 11 just doing my normal moving around when they get too close.

When floating (feather fall) the fire effect on the Unwavering Ardency gets out of sync with the bow itself causing the bow to flicker on and off. But only while floating.

It's just the usual difficult to decipher description so common to the release notes...

Shields provide +DR and +AC while actively blocking.
Orb will instead provide +Energy Resistant and +Saving throws while actively blocking. (but not +DR or +AC)

I got in after some more messing aroudn with the launcher..

All kinds of major bugs immediately noticeable:
-Weapons detach from my body if i swing or do anything else. Other players and NPCs dont even have theirs attached, they lay at their feat.
-DDO Store broken.
-ui update looks glitchy for bags. (Better for the chat windows tho, they fit in the corner properly now without as much cliping).

My immediate interpretation of this was: A shield with no magical effects can add AC, PRR and DR via feats and/or blocking. An orb with no magical effects cannot add AC, PRR or DR. Magic effects can, of course, do just about anything, so a no ac/prr/dr orb could theoretically gain a 2/- dr, +15 PRR and Shield spell clicky from magical effects.

I do not understand what you mean by "normal moving" though. Do you retain you archer focus stacks while moving? I assume you can't get MORE stacks while moving, but do they begin to "Cycle down" as you move and shoot, stay constant as you move and shoot (no gain, no loss) or dissapear entirely as soon as you move? What about Manyshot, does it dispel all archers focus stacks, cause the stacks to cycle down, cause stacks to stay in limbo, or some other effect entirely?

You can already freeze and earthgrab them on live.

Just yet another ancient release note in the wrong update. Pretty sure you could always freeze them, and they lost their earthgrab immunity the same time all players lost it, so thats fair.

I'm not sure where you're getting your info. moving/manyshot clears the stack... Though i'd like it if it decreased the stack by 1...

though i'm just going by the notes, haven't been on lamma so don't have a clue how it's actually working.

Yep, its WAY early.

The earlier the better.
That way more bugs will be squashed when it goes live and more things that will not work are fixed so that they work.

By the way the green ticks in front of Connect, Examine Program and Update Program are partially eaten by something in the launcher when it downloads U16... See I haven't started exploring that I already find problems *grins*

Fatesinger's Bound Fate was incorrectly displaying +15% magic vulnerability, when it was in fact only +12%. The description has been corrected.
Don't lie to the player base, nothing good will come of it.

Instead explain the thought process behind the continuous nerfs in every single update to the Fatesinger destiny.


here are the last words regarding Bound fates percentages; (apparently beta isn't link quote able anymore, figures)

Bound Fate (Song)
Rank 1: A single target must make a Will save with a DC modified by the caster's Charisma modifier. On a failed save, the target is bound briefly to the spot, and for one minute is also 5% more vulnerable to Sonic, Cold and Electric damage, and has a -5 Spell Resistance. In addition, the creature deals -4 damage on attacks.
Rank 2: A single target must make a Will save with a DC modified by the caster's Charisma modifier. On a failed save, the target is bound briefly to the spot, and for one minute is also 10% more vulnerable to Sonic, Cold and Electric damage, and has a -10 Spell Resistance. So when the developer says it's 15% and the tool tip says it's 15% it's clearly a tool tip error, not a nerf, nothing to see here move along..

I'm getting really tired of the release notes putting things in a way as if it was intended that way all along when it clearly wasn't and it is a nerf to the ability. This has happened now on numerous occasions since the last two updates in particular and personally I think this isn't right, be honest tell it like it is in the release notes! This beating around the bush hoping players won't notice the nerfs helps no one.

I actually don't mind the orbs. Not everything about 4E was bad. What confuses me is why we're seeing something for casters again already. There's just not a whole lot of buff wizards and sorcerer threads going on. ;)

And if this is part of move towards some 4E stuff then Turbine is far behind WoTC and should be discussing D&D Next implementations with them for plenty of development time, time that would be wasted if they were to be moving towards 4E. I don't think that's the case, however; it's likely a flavor item but I still don't understand the idea behind more caster options again.

For people stuck at the connect stage, a reboot fixed me. Didn't touch the live launcher before I tried again, in case that makes a difference.

I don't see the new pack in the DDO Store as of yet. Any idea when it will be available?

A character wipe would be a good thing if the character copy tool is working correctly. I just have a bunch of level 20s with no epic destinies lurking on there ATM....

The devs have stated in the past that they are using as inspiration any and all good ideas from any of the editions of D&D. They are not moving towards or converting to 4th Ed, they are simply trying to develop in new directions to add to the game.

As other posters have said,4th Ed may have been overall a mess and a miss, but it did have some decent ideas that can be used to make our game more interesting.

Rune arms were the first and hopefully only item to ever only be able to even be equiped by a certain class. Please give them umd requirements to over come class requirements... Well, apparently the ability to wipe out an enemy or group of enemies with a single spell or ability to neutralize them is not overpowered, but the ability to neutralize them with a single spell or ability in order to ignore them or wipe them out more slowly than instant death is.

I agree that the nerf wasn't needed.

That didn't, but a cold reboot then a Lama client boot worked. I rarely reboot. If you guys are testing could be cross interference with the live and the Lama client perhaps?

Edit: I just tried to boot the Lama client after a live play session and experienced the same issue. I imagine if I reboot the system all will be well. I suspect something in the main client is hanging on to something the Lama client needs (in this Windows session I was able to run Lama then live, running Lama after live appeared to be problematic though).

The new enhancements system will not be up for some time. We're planning on giving it an extended beta on Lamannia before going live with it - much longer than we traditionally have with our game systems.


Not for a while it seems...may not even see Lamania till next year and it plans to stay there for quite a while...which I approve of just to be clear

I somehow got into a state where the launcher couldn't save the data files for some reason, so I deleted Llama and re-downloaded and was able to get in.

I closed and reopened it and got past the connect section too. On a previous update for U10 or U11 (forget which) I did have the issue where I couldn't get past connect until another update to Lamma came out.

This really should work the first time.

Suggesting that people start the launcher and then close it and try it again is... not very polished.

Same. No number of client restarts worked until I rebooted the system. Couldn't find any stray processes that might have been responsible, so I don't know what the deal was.

One thing I will echo, is that Use Magic Device really should let you use magic devices. If that means slapping on an arbitrarily high overage, like you did with arty scrolls so be it, but leave the eventual goal there for someone nuts enough to think they could get some use out of it.

Do you not understand that EN and EH are there for regular non-elite players to level up? Do you expect fresh to level 20's to get to level 25 running only EE? Or did you want to reserve level 21+ only for the elite players?

Exactly why they need to start putting the adventure pack in the store soon as they bring the server up. Hardly gona be a very good test of content if the vast majority of players that do come to lamannia cant even try it.

Also find it quite sad everyone seems to think a character wipe is the only solution to get their updated chars from live to lamania. Tons of other mmos allow this as they have real functional character copy tools that aren so broken they require deleting peoples characters like ddos.

Ask for them to make the character copy tool work properly (eg allow resets, re attempts and multi transfers), not delete everyones characters.

While I agree it's sad, it's also the only way we can have our level 25s to test the new material.

It would be wonderful for the character copy tool to function properly but I'd rather the devs spent their fixing the plethora of bugs affecting the game.

As it stands, we need a character wipe.

Lamannia is not a "real" server, and should not be treated as such. Periodic wipes and server shutdowns/blackouts are part of it's normal cycle. Lamannia is for previewing, testing, and feedback/bug finding, not for people to treat like the game in proper.

Also, character copy doesn't erase a character from the lives serves, it merely duplicates it on lamannia. And feel free to try sentences, they really help with the whole communication thing :D

EDIT: I am assuming you don't want them to wipe Lamannia, inferring that you have characters you care about there. If you are saying you don't want them to delete characters on live, rest assured that will never happen. Live servers are entirely unaffected by all this talk of wiping and character copy problems :D

As far as the wipe i do not understand how this affects the character copy seem whether they wipe or not there is always somebody saying it did not work for them wipe or no wipe what i wonder is if they just fix the character copy. Also would like to know if the High Road quest are a adventure pack or do you complete the other 3 chain to do those quest?

Completely agree.

As you said, the "tree structure" for the collectables bag makes things so much easier than the ingredients bag. Plus it appears there's less of an explosion of new collectibles than ingredients to boot.

What would it take to request +2% spell power and plus 2 hp respectively? The numbers listed look small compared to the number of enhancements in the mock up; and the mechanic promotes less development in more types of enhancements, so might not be worth the trade off.

Even if it were +1 spell power per AP spent in the tree or +1 hp per AP spent in the tree with 41 to hit capstone that's still only a small bonus. Just sayin' ;)

It's never too early for feed back on bards. :D

I saw the new update was named something like, "The Netherese Legacy" and almost fell out of my chair... then I saw no new PrE "Shadow Mage" or new ED for becoming more like a Netherese Wizard... and kind of yawned...

Shadow-Mage != Palemaster... SM's are WAY better... if the Shadow Mage PrE ever got added, I actually may consider playing a pure wizard finally...

I wouldn't expect any new PrE's or additional PrE development. It's pointless to spend time on more before the enhancement overhaul.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but does clearing the character clone tool necessitate clearing the db, or would it be possible to reset that, and let us kill off our old versions ourselves for a new copy-over?

(Fwiw, the last time they had a levelling event, it was a dev on the island in the harbor and it took about 10-15 seconds from the time I arrived to receive full XP. I actually did it during work time :)

So are the lesser/greater tomes of learning.

+4 tomes will not show up until +6 tomes start dropping in game and that will not
happen till the level cap is increased to 30 if it does happen.

Cannot get on the Xoriat server cause the pandora's box will not open for me.
Peek around in the DDO store from time to time, I'm very curious.

Only probably thing might be an Lesser/Greater Epic Tome of Learning similar to the heroic ones?

Ancient Giant Relics, Ancient Dragon Relics, Ancient Elven Relics, and all types of Dragonscales, are now ingredients instead of collectables. The next time they are removed from a collectable bag, they will not be able to be placed back inside. Instead, they will be able to be placed into ingredients bags.

I've got to admit: With all the broken, mangled code in the game, all the nonfunctional feats, broken enhancements, UMD lag, load screens that last for hours, etc... if anyone had come to me saying that this change needed to go live before all the rest of it, I'd have laughed in their face.

If I had been their manager, I'd have concluded that they were too stupid to work in my department.

This change is simply more evidence that Turbine's management team is cluelessly rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic, rather than having the faintest idea what they're actually doing. Like we needed more evidence.

Hmm, your IT department has unusually lax security protocols, then.

In many office environments, attempting to install DDO on a work machine would result in a long discussion about appropriate computer usage from your manager...not to mention a popup message about you lacking administrator rights on the machine.

Bringing a personal laptop to work might be a better bet, depending on how they set up their firewall.

stealth nerf to reconstruct

they have done what they saying time ago.....i used to heal 454 hp per reconstruct, now on lamaland only 292....

Come on guys (and gals) It's really hard to test stuff with such old copies of my mains. They've been there sence MotU beta. A wipe is just a good idea to clear out the dead wood.

Nice to see some changes in the works and saw this in another thread as well;



Wall of Sound
Creates a wall of sound This spell does 2 to 8 Sonic damage plus 1 additional point of damage per caster level (up to a max of 25 additional points at caster level 25) to enemies. Oozes are particularly susceptible to the pitch of the sound, and take an additional 2 to 8 Sonic damage. In addition, enemies caught in the Wall of Sound may begin dancing on a failed Will save, and become slowed thereafter on a failed Fortitude save.

Looks interesting, but the damage seems quite low, now it does scale better than ice storm but during heroic levels many bards will likely achieve higher damage by scroll casting Ice storm (with scroll enhancement line) that also slows enemies for 50% with no save at all.

Dancing can be achieved easily by bards anyway (the problem is usually cc:ing undead and vermin) if it got a faster casting than the disco ball it might help though.

The list of vulnerable monsters could be expanded as well, glass spiders for example. In pnp bards also have the spell "Shatter stone" that can auto-kill stone creatures with their sound (other classes have power word kill that kills any orange named monster without any save, so why not).


Looking forward to seeing more and personally I'm hoping for something along the lines of;

Master of musical magic
You are a master of musical magic blending song and magic flawlessly, all sonic and music based spells (such as the Otto's spells) are cast with an additional +2 DC and have a 50% chance of applying an additional effect of helpless, the chance of that this effect takes place scales with another 25% for every recurring failed save, as the targets are lost in an unrestrained dance or barraged by sound.

This would help a couple of things;
1. bards would get a more usable dc:s on their sonic (evocation) spells (bards are severely feat starved and it's not worth it currently to get sf:evocation on bards and the restrictions for spell school specialization in epic destinies made the gap even further between having and not having the feat).
2. Bards would get their variant of mass holds, Disco ball would have the advantage of longer lasting and after 3 failed saves it would have the same effect as a mass hold (50% damage vulnerability from helpless) but the disadvantage of being slow to cast and slower for the vulnerability to take effect. Spells such as Shout and Irresistible dance doesn't allow for recurring saves and thus only get the initial 50% chance to provide helpless effect, making a bards irresistible dance and shouts a bit better than wizards/sorcerers which I personally find thematically fitting to the bard class.

A person can focus on sonic spells better looking at the spellsinger tree. +1 to all spell DC's, +1 to spell penetration, +2 CHA, 20% faster casting speed, and the option to increase school DC's in the tree at the expense of other school DC's including evocations. A lot of it looks pretty interesting. ;)
