Dear Mr. Gimp and Alied Former Coorporation people,

When someone(me) says sorry afk there may be a good reason for him(me) not coming back to the keyboard. Even after i explained in voice chat afterwards that a guy showed up(didn't know when he was coming) at my door to estimate for contract work at my home, you chose to squelch my toon it says a lot about your personalities...real life happens boys too bad.

You will forever hold a special place in my heart.

/done

Kisses btw i've run with some of these guys lots before

I like these open letters, they are very productive and great for getting attention.

If they squelched you, they probably don't really care about you posting about it.

But then again, I suppose you did not post this for them to see it. Probably posted it to make people think they're ******bags and cause drama.

that is the true story that is exactly what happened and if you perhaps deduced they are ****** bags then i guess i got my point across...i know they don't care they are the squelch-ers :)

But i guess you really have to think about who you squelch without a good reason, guess there are too many people to play with these days. I must say perhaps they didn't run with this toon in particular very often but hey...

Also i should say it's not the whole guild it is in fact 1 of and 3 of the other...btw i hope they do read this.

If you don't know when you're coming back from an extended afk, or if you KNOW it will take more than the duration of the quest, drop party. So simple, and yet, so complicated! I've left quests in the middle before because of emergencies, much like you posted. Better to be known as the guy who dropped party because his roommate was puking all over the living room floor than the piker who made an excuse and \pike afk. I also won't offer to heal an eLoB if I know someone's coming over to do whatever with me.

You AFK with no regards to your party. That's why you were squelched, not because you went AFK.

Explain that it's gonna be a while, then ask does the party wish you to drop or is it okay to pike out the remainder of the quest.

Communication before-the-fact avoids a lot of disagreements like the OP.

This is the thing right i couldn't come back to the keyboard, didn't know it was him at the door either(i figured i'd be 30 sec not 10 min). When i got outside it was ah shoot it's this guy, I simply don't think he would understand hey man just a gimme a minute i have to go quit this group i am in on ddo. When i came back i explained myself but that wasn't good enough i guess.

I wish i knew it was going to be awhile but i didn't...hindsight is maybe i should have dcd like some people do without saying a word? But yes extra communication could have avoided this maybe....

Party chat: g2g rl emergency

quit

3 seconds.

You are the customer, if "your" prospective contractor couldn't wait 3 seconds, he'd be one to avoid anyway.

Now if you get squelched for typing the above, then you would have something to /rant on the forums about, maybe.

I don't like to quit unless i really have to...and honestly this is the first time this has ever happened to me but i'll make a mental note to think about telling them i might have to quit if ever this should arise again.

This was a tod btw i wasn't the healer or a tank.

Trust me, even in Wayfinder piking will lead you to get blacklisted. RL emergency and AFK piking is not the same thing. If I have RL emergency, and I'm outside the quest I explain it to the group first and tell them to drop me if it takes too long. On the other hand, if I'm inside the quest I tell them the same thing and log off (it gives them the option to remove me if I take too long).

from a decent drama start this thread has spiraled down into a rational discourse on raid ettiquette..

Anyone who would /squelch me, is someone I don't want to run with anyway.

Op, I'm sorry, but I can't validate you here. You failed to do the simple courtesy of saying to your estimator "Excuse me just one moment, I need to tell some people I'm not coming back to the conversation(however you want to phrase it", and let your group know and leave, or let them okay you piking. It only takes about 10 seconds to type "Something came up, sorry". Their time is as valuable as yours, and it is not unreasonable to prefer a player who is contributing to the group if they do ask you to leave.

The person who was rude here was not the squelcher.

All it really says is that they did not want to listen to you, nor receive tells...

Only person I ever squelched was because I could not stand to hear them talk...Have you been told that you have an annoying voice or personality?
