Currently working on a build idea on my next life. Idea came from a friend that splashed /2 monk for evasion but train of thought took me to using quarterstaffs as main weapons at lower leves to a almost full caster at higher levels. This will be 6th life and I wanna do a bit of meleeing in my AoEs and not just block n selfheal.

Basicly I want two more wiz past lives but wizard's casting and nuking power is too slow for me and I want to keep myself occupied while spells are on cooldown.

Still haven't decided if I want to go human, helf or dwarf for flavour. Anyway, here's the inital breakdown.

Looks pretty solid - personally i'd take the 2nd monk level at about level 8, to top-up on some skillpoints & to get those yummy level 4 AoEs earlier.

For race, pretty much any can work well. My own preference would be for warforged, so i can self heal effectively while not in undead form (ie. vs. any casters using light spells), however since its a TR & you presumably have more fleshling armour than docents, i think either human for the bonus feat or half elf - with helf, you could take the barbarian dilly for extra toughness enhancements.

What a name "Wonker"... i'd go for "Mozard" instead ...

Interesting, that's way I'd have about the same spell level progression as a sorc and get zombie form sooner. Would postphone evasion to lvl 8 though and I'm trying to remember really hard where do I need evasion before that.

WF is just too gimp for my taste enhancement wise and it looks horrible. Zombie form is lvl 7/8 and CSW pots work decently till lvl 10.
Helf also looks horrible but helmet fixes that. Helf barb dilly looks pretty interesting, might even go that way. Or fvs for scrolls but prolly not since by then UMD is gonna be enough to kick in.

Name draws it's roots from a different source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanker
You're free to name your builds however you like, and "Mozard" really goes with your forum name :D

I don't see spell pen feats?

Correct, no spell pen feats. Past lives and gear to compensate. Past life Fvs - spell pen +1, Past life: Wiz - spell pen +2, Shroud of Abbot +1 spell level/DT with pen 3.

Now if this were an endgame build I'd drop THF and go human and kick in SP and GSP. Maybe boot it up with ESP.
Or if I find myself lacking in penetration abilities I'll just drop THF/empower for more penetration. Can kick in more with enhancements.

+3 PLs -2 splash = +1 overall. Not sure if you like to do some of the more challenging quests but with that I'd still take both spell pen feats to take the pressure off enhancements (that third point is expensive!) and let you bypass SR in quests like elite RwtD and OOB.

Alas caster versatility, where pen doesn't work cc/nukage works just fine.

Went with Human for extra feat, using these feats (think this is the lvl breakdown):
-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------
LEVEL 1 Monk: Power Attack, Toughness, Insightull Reflexes
LEVEL 2 Wizard: Maximise Spell
LEVEL 3 Wizard: Extend Spell
LEVEL 6 Wizard: Mental Toughness, Spell Focus (Necromancy)
LEVEL 8 Monk: Two-Handed Fighting
LEVEL 9 Wizard: Past Life (Arcane Initiate)
LEVEL 12 Wizrad: Quicken Spell, Greater Spell Focus (Necromancy)
LEVEL 15 Wizard: Spell Penetration
LEVEL 17 Wizard: Heighten Spell
LEVEL 18 Wizard: Greater Spell Penetration
-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Basicly get PM I first, than Evasion, PM II for forms and ready to take PM III and Lich in case I feel like staying at endgame later; can take Epic Spell Pen and Epic SF: Necro.

Btw, thanks for the Pen thoughts WOWO, if I'm going Necro, may as well grab the feats to back it up.

So far it's very fun to play and Reflex saves are crazy, I have yet to die because of the trap.
