View Full Version : yellow dopant not working?
Hi all,
i just bought one of those form the store and am tring to deconstruct a min2 dwarven axe. I tried all 3 altars but the button on the menu stays greyed out. I put in the yellow dopant and it gives me the option to deconstruct a weapon, I put in the weapon but the button doesnt work. What am I doing wrong? I tried weapon first then dopant and the other way around. Any hints? or is it a bug?
Also keeps saying that i doesnt find any recipes when both items are in the barter menu.
Edit: I tried again after being logged out for a bit and it worked. I dont know what I must have done wrong as the barter UI is rather easy to understand. my apologies...didnt intend to "pile on". there are a lot of bugs...this apparently isnt one of them.

Maybe it needs a power cell. Just a thought

Lol.

you know when you put a component into the barter menu how it shows you all possible recipes? When I put in the dopant it shows me the option to deconstruct a weapon, when I click that option the field where you put the ingredients shows a yellow dopant and a greensteel weapon...so per barter UI it doesnt require one.

Did you get the purple dopant that makes the yellow dopant fit into the altar? it drops in Titan only thou...
Probably just a barter bug, bug report it and it'll be fixed *Soon*.

thats what it looks like from my point of view... still waiting for someone to prove me wrong and tell me how to do it if the mistake is on my side.

This should be showing you at least one recipe at the Altar of Devastation for any tier 3 item or shard. If you put the weapon in there by itself it should be showing you the appropriate recipe. If you put it in any of the other three altars it wouldn't show any recipes, since those would be for Tier 2, Tier 1, or non-upgraded items.
Alternatively, in the Altar of Devastation you should be able to type in Mineral in the search box and find all Mineral related recipes, which should include a deconstruction recipe. "Mineral Weapon Deconstruction" should show up near the end of the recipe list in this case, once you search for Mineral.
Generally, the altar you need to go to is the one that you built or upgraded the item at last.
If Mineral recipes aren't showing up in the altar, that's definitely a bug. If the recipe shows up but doesn't accept your Tier 3 Mineral weapon (or shard or equipment), there's a different bug.
There are also multiple recipes for different weapons, but not every "weapon deconstruct" recipe works for dual-shard items, because those other recipes are for single-shard items and give back fewer ingredients, since of course single shard items use fewer ingredients to make. We tried to avoid cases where a player might pick the 'wrong' recipe and get back only half as many ingredients as they should get.

a Min 2 item is a Tier 3 dual shard item.
As such it can be deconstructed only from the Altar of Devastation.
drop the item and the dopant in the altar and it will give you a choice of several deconstruction recipe :
- there's one for dual shard recovery ( you get components for dual shards )
- there's one for cleansing essence recovery ( you get a cleansing essence, but only components from one tier 3 shard )
you have to select one of the recipe for the deconstruction.
You can't just drop the items in it and hit the 'deconstruct' button.

FYI, when you deconstruct an item you do not get the cleanser which untaints the shavereth. I do not know if that is working as intended, but it is what it is.

This is not clear in there at all. I see two recipes, but what the difference between two is not clear.

When I tested it with 10 things on Lama there are many tier 3 devestation deconstruction recipes shown but they boil down to:
Deconstruct a Single-Supreme-Shard Tier3 item into half it's ingredients.
Deconstruct a Single-or-Dual-Supreme-Shard Tier3 cleansed item into half a Single-Supreme-Shard item's ingredients plus a cleansing stone.
Deconstruct a Dual-Supreme-Shard Tier 3 item into half it's ingredients.
The rub is if you want a cleansing stone from a cleansed dual-shard item, you'll get back the same random ingredient number as if it had been a single-shard item. There is no dual-shard cleansed recipe.
It's also confusing since there's a different name for many of the dual shard deconstructing recipes but they all return the same amount of random stuffs.... excluding the small, med, supreme shards and powercells (and no base item). But it's still better than nothing if it's a slot you need to move, a borked recipe or just something you wont use again.
I'm more worried about the drop rate maybe not being any better. Ran a shroud elite and noone got one yesterday. Only one sampling but still LAME.

Worked fine for me. I purchased two dopants from the DDO store. First I deconstructed the weapon for mats, then I deconstructed the item (goggles) for an essence of cleansing. Both times worked great, very easy to use. I did notice that the alter will not pull the dopant automatically if it is in an ingredient bag however. It will auto pull the dopant if it is simply in your inventory though.

This is not clear in there at all. I see two recipes, but what the difference between two is not clear.
In one you get more large components back, in the other you get an essence of cleansing and less large components back.
hello again, thanks for all your input. I tried again now after being logged out for a while. This time the recipe was available and I could decon the item as itended. I dont know if I did anything differently though or if it has something to do with a bad connection and hence a slow database check for the recipe or whatever.
so it is working!

Can you deconstruct an item which is less than Tier 3?
My Rogue has a tier 2 necklace that I made a mistake on in the process of building it (Destruction clicky- ouch). Can I put that and a dopant in a Tier 2 altar and deconstruct it?

Yes you can, put it in the Tier 2 Altar with a Dopant, select the recipe that appears and that it.
It also works on Shards of Power. If you have made an imbued Shard of Power you can also deconstruct it. You won't get the shard back, but ingredients will be given.
The Yellow Dopant costs 400 TP in the DDO Store ( sic ). It is now dropping in the 20th reward list ( confirmed ) and Dev said that the drop rate was increased as well as it's drop location.
( I'm still not happy, it should have been put in a Vendor for 10K or 20KPP )
Personally I'm waiting for a Store sale to buy some... In the meantime I have the shroud to farm.

For once I get the answer I was hoping for- thank you.
On the issue of dopant drops, first post-U15 Shroud I did, normal difficulty, one dropped from one of the part 5 chests AND one was on the end reward list for a player doing their 40th Shroud. I don't know what else dropped as a choice for him, as he was very excited that the dopant dropped- no doubt that was his choice from the list. It would be nice to know if it replaces something else in the random lootgen or is in addition to all the other things that can drop.

According to what is known about it, it doesn't replace anything in the 20th reward list.
Now I'm more dubious for the chest drop, but I don't think it replace anything.

4 Hard Shrouds, 2 Epic Hard Devils Assaults. Zero dopants for anyone.
"Lame" is a polite way of putting it...

Oh dear holy typo :(
Fixing it : It is now dropping in the 20th reward list ( confirmed )
That's what happens when you make posts before drinking your morning coffee.
I pulled an LDS and Yellow Dopant out one of the end chests on a hard shroud yesterday. Very nice chest and the dopant yielded the following:
s/m/l
MinII Heavy repeater:
scales: 2/1/1
chains: 0/0/3
arrows: 2/1/1
Stones: 0/2/4
shraps: 1/2/1
signet stone
