I get the basic idea of epic destinies. What I dont get is the twists of fate or how to cross over to other destinies?
Not much usefull info I can find anywhere and the wiki is not very helpful.
If someone can point out a step by step guide it would be great.
I also read somewhere someone did 48 epic levels huh? you only get 24 points correct?
I want to go to tier 6 on shadow dancer but have a few twists from dreadnaught etc. But that leaves me very few points. *scratches head* What am I missing here?

That would be 24 points on a single destiny. Each destiny is leveled up on it's own, and only if it is your active destiny. You can change your active destiny at any time. In a public instance of course, and if not VIP have to be at a fatespinner. That being said, you only get to use the abilities from your active destiny. Unless you have "twists"
Short version of what you are looking for:
Make Dreadnaught your active destiny. Level it up spending your earned DP's to unlock the passive/active abilities you want to use. Once you have enough Fate Points to unlock a twist slot, you then will put the ability you want to twist in that slot.
You would then make Shadow Dancer your active destiny. You do not lose/erase anything you have earned/unlocked on Dreadnaught, they just become inactive, and can not be used while Dreadnaught is not active. Except the ability you twisted. If you where switch back to Dreadnaught in the future, then anything you unlocked on Shadow Dancer would become inactive and unusable unless "twisted". Your dreadnaught destiny will be as you left it, with eveything you had previously unlocked still available.
Fate points to unlock twist slots are earned by leveling up destinies. You get 1 FP for every 3 ED levels. I.E. If you want to unlock your first twist slot using only the two Destinies in your post, you would want to level Dreadnaught to level 3. At that point, you earn a FP that you can then use to unlock your first twist slot. There are other ways to get FP's as well. They are available for purchase in the DDO store.(only allowed to use once per character) so no buying a bunch of +2 FP's in the store. And it has also been posted in screenshots on the forums somewhere, that someone pulled a +1 FP from random loot.
You can earn a FP by leveling up any combination of desitinies, and at every multiple of 3, you earn a FP. So you could also level up Dreadnaught to 2, then level Shadow Dancer to 1, thus earning 1 FP. Or you can level 3 different destinies to 1 each, and since your total levels is 3, you earn a FP.
*note* Your first twist slot not upgraded will only allow you to slot a tier one ability. So if you are wanting to twist higher up in the tree, you will need to upgrade that slot. And you can only twist tiers 1-4, so no "Epic Moments" can be twisted.
The wiki should be correct on the slot costs to unlock/upgrade:
(taken from the wiki)
If the enhancement you put into a twist of fate has many level, the level of the enhancement will be the level when you equip it into the twist of fate. Therefore it is advised to always level up an enhancement to the maximum possible before puting it into a twist of fate slot. Note that enhancement level has nothing to do with tier ; and putting a tier 1 level 5 enhancement into a twist of fate doesn't require you to upgrade the slot.
◦ Just unlocked: tier 1
◦ Upgrade 1: tier 1 or 2
◦ Upgrade 2: tier 1, 2 or 3
◦ Upgrade 3: tier 1, 2, 3 or 4
Every time 3 destiny levels are gained, a new Fate point is acquired by the character. Destiny levels are counted globally for all destiny. This means level 1 in a destiny and level 5 in another is 6 levels, or 2 fate points. Fate points can be used to unlock or upgrade twist of fate slots. Here are the current known prices (subject to change).
◦ First Twist: 1 Fate Point
◦ Upgrade 1: 2 Fate Points
◦ Upgrade 2: 3 Fate Points
◦ Upgrade 3: 4 Fate Points
◦ Second Twist: 2 Fate Point
◦ Upgrade 1: 3 Fate Points
◦ Upgrade 2: 4 Fate Points
◦ Upgrade 3: 5 Fate Points
◦ Third Twist: 3 Fate Point
◦ Upgrade 1: 4 Fate Points
◦ Upgrade 2: 5 Fate Points
◦ Upgrade 3: 6 Fate Points
Hope that makes a little more sense to you now, my apologies if not, just got home from work a bit ago, so my brain is a little frazzled. ;)

You can spend up to 24 points in any tree that you have active if you are at level 5 for said ED.
You gain 1 fate point for every 3 levels of all destinies combined....plus any from a fate tome...up to +2.
As you get fate points you can make the little boxes at the bottom of the ED screen active....hover over "+" for cost. First box is 1 point...then 2....3...4 for each upgrade to let you twist a higher level ability.
The second box cost more to start 2...then 3...4 etc....
The third costs 3... then 4....then 5 etc....
As you can see, you need to plow through some ED's to get going...but depending on your play style maybe you only want a few thing. Thing is as you figure it out.... there always seems to be something "nice" from each destiny to make available...grindage.
As far as plugging in the ED ability you want just "Make Active" the ED. Drag the ability down to the correct slot (Tier 1 or 2, ets). Then make the ED active you want to work on or stay in and poof the abity will carry over.
If I left anything out peeps can correct my post or add comment as needed. I was reluctant to get stuck in on all this ED stuff beyond a few twists but if anything... having to blast through some Misc ED's has given me some ideas on the other toons I still have to work on......good times.

One important point that needs to be made.
There are not enough epic destinies to let players earn enough fate points and then upgrade all 3 twists to their full L3 potential -- even if a +2 fate tome is used.
It is a mistake to think that this can happen.
And, it might not be self evident from the previous posts that this is not possible.
In general, upgrading twist 1 to L3 is most efficient. But, this might not be the best choice for all characters. It really depends on if a L3 twist is needed.
IIRC there are only enough fate points to upgrade twist 1 to L3, twist 2 to L2 and twist 3 to L1. And, I think that depends on using the +2 fate tome.

You can get two L3 twists and one L2 twist, but this assumes you grind 48 epic destiny levels and acquire (purchase or find) a +2 Tome of Fate. With that number of fate points, you can also get one L4 twist, one L2 twist, and one L1 twist.

Woops. My math was bad.
Correction: Two L3 twists and one *L1* twist. Sorry about that! The rest is correct though: You can get one L4, one L2 and one L1 twist with 18 points.
