I was running some checks on gear and I happened to see mithral while digging through wiki. And I wondered, I wonder if light armor comes in mithral to wear as basically a cloth.

Not hard to believe, in the books mages would wear it sometimes as it was light as cotton but hard as dragon scale.

And so I type it in and I find that every armor class goes down by one from heavey to med, med to light, except light still remains light. Sooo, why? Is it because the coding never worked out trying to equip light armor as cloth and it kept getting spell failure or something?

Because armor is still armor. If it makes it fit the rule better, you could think of it as 'super light' rather than light armor. But that does not make it the same as being unarmored. It does receive the benefit of reduced arcane spell failure for being Mithril.

A light mithril chain, for example, has a greater DEX bonus and lower Arcane spell failure that regular light chain, so there are differences.
