the original plan with this tr was 3 fighter, 3 pally, 3 ranger, 3 monk and back to human exploter.

i got 1 fighter, 1 pally, 2 ranger done and started on monk.

then i found out 2 things.

1) i have no idea how to build/play a monk.

2) monks are a frigging blast!

so i have this guy at almost 20 on a pure light horc monk and i want to use the free lr on him.

some of my feats may seem questionable, but thats why im posting this.

while i am not a noob, i am a newb to monks so please no hitting below the belt (bruises are ok though)

before i post it - could someone post the pros ands cons of light vrs dark now?

i know a lot of monks go wis based now - would that be benifical on this type of build?

my only requests in the build are this:

no telling me to reroll into a human/helf - this is the free lr so race is stuck with horc

please no telling me to tr -again. i want this guy to experiance epic destinies for a while before i tr.

ok here goes

Looking at your enhancements...

Grand of Air instead of Water.
No hide/silent. Need void I at least for the clarity finisher.
No restoring the balance or difficulty at the beginning.

If you have left over enhancements put them into GM water if you want. Or more orc PA? I don't know orcs...

I like Void IV and use it when not running in GMoF (which is most of the time).

I'm not getting into light vs dark. I've had both. Darks need wraps to bypass metal-DR. Light have more moves than quickbar spaces. Both are fun.

Looking at your past lives, you may enjoy dark more. You have the feats for it already.

I approve of your decision to not wear frills... ballerina monks have become an eyesore to the lands of eberron.

Ok now seriously the only think that jumped out to me was the mobility feat, while I can justify wanting more dodge, I would also be considering things like Improved sunder for that slot, as it is pretty handy for a monk.... it lowers fort save, and lowers fortification, pretty handy.

Overall though looks really solid to me.

Essential monk feats...

TWF
ITWF
GTWF
PA (especially with Horc)
Cleave (a lot of epic destiny Dreadnaught enhancements require cleave)
SF
IC: Bludg
Toughness

The last feat used to be Improved Sunder but now it isn't so clear...

With the addition of the new epic feat Overwhelming Crit, improved Sunder should probably be replaced with Greater Cleave because OC needs it as a prerequisite.

Just my humble opinion...

I have a 22nd level Horc and the above will *definitely* be the way I go. At 21 I took Improved Martial Arts.

Have you given any thought to your epic feats? The obvious choices are Improved Martial Arts, Overwhelming Critical, and Vorpal Strikes. IMA is easy to take, as it has no pre-reqs besides lvl 12 monk. The problem with OC is it requires Cleave, GC, and Weap Focus (and IC which you already have); fortunately you already have Power Atk and Cleave qualifies for Shintao. So maybe do: TWF x3, IC:B, Stunning Fist, PA, Cleave, GC, WF:B, OC:B, IMA; with one feat left for Toughness, Precision, Stunning Blow, or Imp Sunder, I think.

OC also requires a str of 23. And with vorpal strikes bugged atm, it's probably a better choice.
