2WF - Khopesh or Bastard Swords?

I apologize if this was already posted but I was not able to find anything via search. Has anyone dug into this who can provide some supporting information as to which option is better for a TWF Tempest 3 Ranger?

I think I read a calculation that Khopeshes were about 2-5% ahead of the next best 1H weapon (Scimitar maybe), and Bastard swords are one of the lowest DPS 1H weapon.

That having been said, unless you play Epic Elite this level of optimization shouldn't really be an issue provided you have a good prefix/suffix.

I understand the difference between a 10% base Crit chance with 1d10x2 points of damage VS a 15% base Crit chance with 1d8x3.

Where I was confused is, the wiki lists expected damage marginally higher in all listed categories for the Bastard Sword compared to the khopesh even though the math doesn't add up. I was just wondering if there were deeper considerations that I wasnt looking at.

if i recall correctly, bastard swords came out ahead with lower strength/damage modifiers but khopeshes start being better as your strength goes up - and it doesn't have to go up far before khopesh wins. can anyone confirm that?

The wiki possibly includes additional damage from glancing blows.
Bastard Swords are considered 2h-weapons as far as glancing blows are concerned and Two-Handed fighting feats will improve the output and effectiveness of any glancing blows.

Only while going Sword & Board. Not while doing TWF.

Against High-fort/Crit Immune targets the Bastard Sword may pull ahead slightly, all other things equal. Other than that, Khopesh will pretty much rule the roost. That said, the difference is minor, and if you want to use a Bastard Sword for whatever reason, you'll be able to compete fine up to and including Epic Hard. I haven't ran an EE, but I doubt the differences are enough to make much of a difference.

One advantage though, if you're new and lack gear/plat; Bastard Swords are dirt cheap on the AH.
