Bug report: In game map displays rare encounters?

Since the bug forum is offline I'm reporting this here. It's rather useful but I definitely do not think it should be happening.

When traveling in adventure areas if a player has their map open and approaches the spawn point of a rare encounter, a chest icon flashes briefly if the rare encounter spawn is up. This icon appears when the character is in the general vicinity of the rare spawn - but WELL before visible range. This happened to me better than 20 times last night.

I assume you are referring to the king's forest wilderness area?

I've not seen a chest icon; only the orange dot and whilst not immediately visible tends to be not too far away.

I've certainly found it useful rather than a bug, and never felt it being that far in the distance to be an exploit - perhaps you could show a screenshot of the precise location you are versus the rare encounter?

I have noticed this in all the explorer areas for several years now, although it doesn't always happen. It's just a bug which sometimes shows the chest for a second on the map. Not a big deal imo
