View Full Version : Yellow Dophant should drop in Tower of Despair

The Devil Within raid needs some revitalization.
The Dophant's a bit too hard to get.
If the low rate is intentional, this might be another way to offer incentive to run an old raid.

I suspect the Dopant drop rate is a bit wrong. But /signed to having it in TOD too.

Heck, I'd be happy if it dropped ANYWHERE.

Heh, exactly.
I have yet to pull one, see someone pull one, see one linked in guild/party/trade/general chat, hear of someone pulling one, hear of someone seeing someone pull one, hear of someone seeing one linked, etc...
I've seen 1 screenshot on the forums from a different server.
Why put in place GS/tod ring deconstruction if it isn't actually possible? I really hope the droprate is a bug.

Maybe someone should start a "We DEMAND..." thread. Seemed to work for healers friend.

The irony is that we were looking at GS deconstruction as an alternative to repeating the shroud grind. However, by the time you grind it enough to find a dopant, you more than likely have enough ingreds to make whatever you want. Kinda makes it a meaningless addition to the game.

So much that.
It might even be faster to regrind the TOD ring (say, another 40 completions) you want than to get the dopant.

It's a stupid system it should be should be sold either at the power cell vendor in meridia or with the crafting vendor, way to make people grind for an item in a place that is already over populated with items people are tring to get.

Absolutely it should be in ToD, especially since somebody could conceivably own the Amrath adventure pack and not own the Vale of Twilight.

With the drop rate it has in the Shroud, for all we know it is in Tod right now and nobody's found it yet :)
In all seriousness, Devs, have someone check that line of code for a missing 0... or 3. This is just silliness.

I'd go one step further. ANY quest that can drop Large ingredients eDA, all of the Amarath quests, ToD etc should have a chance to drop a Dopant.

What is this yellow dopant you speak of? Where have you seen this? I've never seen it before. You get my point.

I don't want it dropping anywhere and watering down loot tables. It should be sold by a vendor.

Dopant was a stupid addition to the game.
Forcing to run for a rare drop that seems to be harder to get than running shroud 10x(or more as I have yet to actually see anyone get one) for enough ingredients to create what you want to replace or deconstruct is stupid.
besides which, with deconstruction you are already penalized by losing ingredients since you only get a random percentaqge of them back. Worse if it was a dual shard cleansed item as you only ge the cleansing stone back.
Should have been use a yellow dopant to get all your ingredients back and the random % for not using a dopant.

Agreed - still trying to understand the thinking behind making it a rare (as in "only 1 person in the entire game gets one") drop.

Shoud drop RARE in every vale quest and at least every 3rd completion in shroud. I dont see a connection to ToD that would warrant having it drop in ToD

The connection is TOD rings require the same (second tier) mechanic as Green Steel, and use shards, and it is possible that people purchased Amarath but not Vale (though, HIGHLY unlikely...).
So that's the connection. Though as previously mentioned, it is entirely likely they DO drop, but at the levels they drop and TOD has stopped being run... maybe one just hasn't dropped yet.
You should not even need a dopant to cleanse TOD rings.
It should just require Trophies. I'd be fine if it required 18 (double the amount to craft) trophies to cleanse a ring.

It should be free!! Yes, right. We spent our time for gs items, so why not leaving the option whether to destroy features made by excessive grinds in our control?
For the OP:
signed, but I didn't see any1 yet, so I guess it doesn't matter if it drops with a rate lim--->0 at 2 places or only 1 place.

Not to mention that Shroud ingred's and shards drop in Amrath quests, including chests in ToD. That Arraetrikos is/was likely a General or Lieutenant under First General Horoth (before their little disagreement). That the whole point of The Shroud is to make the Vale of Twilight coterminous with the plane of Shavarath instead of Lammania and green steel is favored by the devil armies of Shavarath, thus the materials from which they are constructed and, by extension, their deconstruction would come from the plane of Shavarath.
Not sure how anyone couldn't see a connection between the Shroud and Amrath

So long as it only spawns in the sully chest.
I'm opposed to anything diluting the ring loot table further

I see the connection now. I havent gotten a ring yet so I didnt know the shroud ings were part of the crafting. Further, I have bags set to auto gather and dont pay attention to loot other than whether I got a named or not when doing ToD. I know it's hard to imagine but true. And I have been more focused on my TR Cleric (lv 10 currently) so I haven't run one recently.

I had suggested earlier that it drop in place of a necklace or belt in the Shadowfiend's chest.

I'll go one further - epic Devils Assault - i see it as an ideal location for the deconstruction material drop - storyline wise you could fit it, and it's a location that won't see any significant dilution of other desired items in chest drops.
Coit out~

So, in order to deconstruct an item that a significant amount of grind was put into - only to get a fraction of the materials back - an item was added to the loot table to dilute the drop rate of construction materials, adding to the grind to make future items (if it were to actualy drop instead of, oh, say - the depleted high energy cells that have been my oh-so-generous reward for elite shrouds of late). I should think the Yugoloth vendor in the shroud/in Amrath would be able to sell such an item without it breaking anything but the grindiness that was, to my understanding, something that was trying to be gotten away from with the idea of deconstruction in the first place....and maybe they Yugo pot vendor could sell them at a discount? Just a thought - rather than having to win the lottery just to deconstruct something like...I don't know....the triple immunity items recently rendered nearly useless by the update?

Nice idea. Still requires the pack(s) purchased, and both notions require running the content, be it getting into the shroud, or snagging enough favor to unlock the pot vendor, so it's not like the store'll take a hit either.

Well, i am yet to see one, and yet to hear about somone pulling one. Wasnt in 20th list either.
Seriously why did you have to waste dev time with a NONEXISTENT *feature*? I have about ~9-10 GS junk (just wasting bankslots) across all characters that i woulnd mind to replace with ingredients RIGHT NOW.
Apprently we have a different idea of a *feature* tho. :D
