Well epic is now like any other quest, with the same difficulties (the only difference being the requirement to be 20 to enter), so your question is about the same as: "Isn't there anything else possible than thinking in quests"?
Maybe play the AH and try to become a DDO Carlos Slim?

AlrikWell since the current implementation of epic is the latest "new thing" in DDO it's going to be very talked about and played.

When Canneth Crafting came out we saw the same thing, hoards of players in the crafting hall or farming stuff to deconstruct and lot's of talk about the new system.

I always prefer running new content over running old content. The lvl 20+ stuff is what is new.

I have characters in the 8-12 range and in the 16-19 range also. But they aren't getting as much play time right now, because they are doing stuff I've done before.

I thought this was going to be a rant about how overused the word "epic" is in our society and how it has already begun to lose all meaning.

On this topic, unless you're level 18-19 I don't know what the problem is. There are plenty of level 17 and below PUGs. If you're 18-19 though, yeah, you're kinda boned by the new system.

The stuff *below that* is for new or TRing players. The TRs want to rush to 20 because they feel they have done them enough. The new playeres want to rush to 20 so they can farm good gear. The MMO mentality isn't the journey... it's the gear. And once you have all the toons you want to build brought to lv 20 and gotten all of the gear? What's left?

So while I dont support that mentality, I do understand it.

I pretty much never run epic, never did. Found end-game dreadfull. Haven't tried epic level since U14, but since I didn't preorder I probably won't be doing much end-game anyway.
Nope. Just farm 20 epic tokens and tr into something, haven't decided if barb or straight to fvs...
