I'm sure we have all heard this before but I feel the need to say it again. I truly believe that augment slot epic items should not be tossed aside or forgotten, even in light of the new xpack. People like configuration, configuration allows for differences, and these differences allow people to be unique. I know I'm not the only player who feels passionate about epic items and we would like to see a little "love" in this area.

Prereq:
• Add the following to all Epic Chest loot tables ( bound to account ), 25% drop rate, Desc: Essence of Imbuement - This strange liquid is used to bind various crystals together in the Alter of Epic Rituals.
• Add the following to all Epic Chest loot tables ( unbound ), 50% drop rate, Desc: Empty Augment Sphere – This powerful sphere is used in some rituals to absorb powers from ancient runes.
• Remove the 100 hour red augment crystals from the loot tables, red augment crystals will now allow to be double imbued.
• The color wheel is for slotting, not imbuing.

1. Add Green Augment Crystals
• Desc: Green augment crystals can be double imbued with any two crystals that are not green, violet, red or orange
• Note: +6 stat items do not create +12 when double imbued, only +6

Example Recipe:
• Green Augment Crystal of Insightful Wisdom ( insight wisdom +2 )
• Add the following to the Alter of Epic Rituals
o one ( +1 colorless augment crystal of exceptional wisdom + 1 )
o one ( +1 colorless augment crystal of exceptional wisdom + 1 )
o one ( essence of imbuement )
o one ( green augmentation catalyst )
o five ( epic tokens )

Example Recipe
• Green Augment Crystal of the Pestilence
• Add the follow to the Alter of Epic Rituals
o one ( yellow augment crystal of blindness immunity )
o one ( yellow augment crystal of disease immunity )
o one ( green augmentation catalyst )
o one ( essence of imbuement )
o five ( epic tokens )

Example Recipe
• Green Augment Crystal of the Magical Study ( illusion spell focus +2 )
• Add the follow to the Alter of Epic Rituals
o one ( yellow augment crystal of spell focus: illusion +1 )
o one ( yellow augment crystal of spell focus: illusion +1 )
o one ( green augmentation catalyst )
o one ( essence of imbuement )
o five ( epic tokens )

2. Add Violet Augment Crystals
• Desc: Violet augment crystals can be triple imbued with any three unique crystals that are yellow or orange

Example Recipe
• Violet Augment Crystal of Imbuement ( illusion spell focus +2 )
• Add the follow to the Alter of Epic Rituals
o one ( orange augment crystal of stoneskin: )
o one ( yellow augment crystal of disease immunity )
o one ( yellow augment crystal of fear immunity )
o one ( essence of imbuement )
o one ( violet augmentation catalyst )
o five ( epic tokens )

3. Add Orange Augment Crystals
Desc: Orange augment crystals are created by using an Empty Augment Sphere + 1 sovereign rune.

Example Recipe
• Orange Augment Crystal of StoneSkin
• Add the follow to the Alter of Epic Rituals
o one ( sovereign rune of stoneskin )
o one ( empty augment sphere )
o one ( orange augmentation catalyst )
o five ( epic tokens )

4. Update Blue Augment Crystals
• Of Healing Amplification 20%
• Of Incite 20%
• Of Melee Alacrity 10%
• Of Efficient Metamagics
• Or any of the effects found here: http://ddowiki.com/page/Category:Unique_item_enchantments

5. Update Yellow
• While some yellow augment crystals already exist, it is now possible to create new ones.
• Desc: Yellow augment crystals are created by using an Empty Augment Sphere + 1 eldritch rune.

Example Recipe
• Yellow Augment Crystal of Lesser Healing Amplification
• Add the follow to the Alter of Epic Rituals
o one ( eldritch rune of lesser healing amplification )
o one ( empty augment sphere )
o one ( yellow augmentation catalyst )
o five ( epic tokens )

6. Update Red Augment Crystals
• Desc: Red augment crystals can be double imbued with any two crystals that are red only.

Example Recipe
• Red Augment Crystal of the Devil's Ruin
• Add the follow to the Alter of Epic Rituals
o one ( red augment crystal of vampire's vulnerability )
o one ( red augment crystal of heaven's light )
o one ( essence of imbuement )
o five ( epic tokens )

I'd personally prefer to have the ability to imbue a slot on the new gear. ie: just being able to put 1 blue slot into 1 piece of the new gear would solve my main's gear plans/problems.

It really feels like a step backwards abandoning the augment crystal system.

I believe that part of what you are implying should be implemented.

I think that being able to "add" or "change" slots in "any" and "all" epic gear is the way to go. example; making a red slot into a blue one on any epic gear that has the appropriate slot color, adding a slot into epic gear that has NO available slot only.

That's my take on it.

To clarify being able to change a blue slot on a helm for a red slot in order to add heaven's light crystal into the helm and make every attack have the heavens light abilities regardless of weapons used.

I do miss the versatility of the old epic slots.

I definitely would like to see the devs reconsider slotting options on lvl 20+ gear and allow players to slot gear with something that would allow some gear twinking like the old epic slots. I do like the suggestion that expands on the old system and allows even more slotting options. It gives us players the ability to customize gear and not make it just a cookie cutter design.

I wouldn't even mind if slotting a piece of gear raised the min level

There are some effects that should also be added as options for the epic slots.

For example, Boon of Undeath, Superior Stability, Greater/Superior Warding, Elemental Absorptions, etc... would be great for the blue slots. Especially given the lack of upgrade of named epic armors when compared to the new random trash XXXcraft armors.

Yellow slots ought to have slottable +90 Spell Power (Devotion, Combustion, magnetism, etc...) options.

And I'd love to see a Red Augment that grants ~30% Potency and an Implement Bonus (3x whatever the enhancement is) to the item. Especially since several epic caster-y weapons like the Staff of Arcane Power didn't get an Implement bonus.

Augments really need to be addressed, in some fashion. We all know Turbine has a difficult time finishing what they start. It took several years just to get GreenSteel decon and even know it's not fully working in Live.

I would really like to see making use of the Runes from RR in some form. It will bring new life in two areas for both at level runs and high level grinds. While we might not see this as Eberron is going back seat, we can still ask for it.
