Question regarding an in-game notation

Certain skills in the epic destinies (e.g. "brute force" in Legendary Dreadnought) contain a description that says something similar to "..add +1[W] damage..". I am assuming that, in this example, this means 1 damage is added to every weapon swing. However, what does the [W] notation mean? Thank you in advance.

They changed the notion for how weapons damage dice get boosted.

The [W] is the base damage die/dice of the weapon. +1 means it get another base damage set added, .5 is half, etc.

They did this so you could stack multiple sources of "doubling base damage" by adding +1[W] without the multiplicative increases getting out of hand.
