I have a question about how scroll DCs are calculated.
I am a necromancy focused wizard and have high enough UMD for the cleric scroll "slay living".
Does my necromancy feats and enhancements (epic necromancy focus etc) add to the scroll's dc?
Does my necromancy focus items add to the slay living dc?
I might be stretching it...but heighten doesn't work right? :D
It seems to be working on most mobs.. but want to reconfirm this.
I have no scroll/wand mastery.
My base necro dc is 48.
20 wiz Epic 3
THANKS PPL.

The DC on a Slay Living scroll should be 15 - significantly below your necro DC for casting. Scrolls shouldn't take into account anything but enhancements. DCs for scrolls should be 10 + spell level.

By enhancements, xveganox means Wand Heightening (Which affects DCs; I am unsure if this effects scrolls, though i have the feeling it probably does) and Wand and Scroll Mastery (which effectively acts like universal spellpower for wands and scrolls). Artificers can also increase the relative caster level of scrolls via their "artificer scroll knowledge" inherent feats, but that does not affect DC at all (except on a few scrolls where caster level and DC are related, like Sleep (http://ddowiki.com/page/Sleep_%28spell%29)).
Long story short - The only useful wands, scrolls, and clickies are ones that either have no save, or where the save does not significantly diminish the usefulness of the activated effect. Likewise, any wand/scroll/clickie that emulates a spell that is highly dependent on caster levels, spell pen, feats, enhancements, etc are also usually pretty awful. There are exceptions, but not many.

The most reliable scroll to instakill is probably *Power Word: Kill*, they are rare drop however. They are more valuable to use in puny content, and they arent that much use in the more difficult ones.
The availability of spell potions makes scrolls very trivial unfortunately. You can spam your best spells the entire dungeon, no original dnd limitation (slotting/rest) is present on casting.

Even then, if you use it against anything with spell resistance, it is bound to fail, since it's spell penetration is 17 (caster level of the scroll)
