Ran this today and I ran into some interesting things besides the actual content of the raid. For one, there is no timer, not sure if this is WAI but it's like tempest spine where you can just repeat it over and over. Honestly, I don't mind since this raid is a real pain to do and it's not like the rewards or drop rates for them are astounding.

Second, drop rates seem to really suck. Out of the couple raids I've participated/heard about, no one got a named or anything remotely good like a tome. Now of course it's not like that settles everything and makes it have bad loot just because a couple or so dozen people didn't get one single good/named drop out of 5 chests but it does raise some questions as to how good they really are. Perhaps it's because it was run on epic normal. Usually though when you run raids....I expect SOME raid loot, just wasn't seeing it when I ran it.

Honestly not too impressed with the drop rates though, they seem very poor so I guess it does constitute the no raid timer but I'm not even sure if that's WAI. That brings me to my two questions.

Is the no raid timer WAI?

and

Do you think the drop rates are too low for nameds or raid loot otherwise?

I'm interested to see how other people fared in the drops area of the raid, maybe the groups I seen and was in just got very unlucky.

I did two runs today and BOTH times we failed to get the objective defeat the portal keepers to complete (even though we killed all the portal keeper waves and Lolth)
So if you wouldnt mind maybe even via PM tell me how a group should go about getting that objective to complete..as so far killing the portal keepers (all the waves) does nothing to advance the quest.

I don't remember everything 100% but that was near the beginning and I believe what you had to do was first beat down on Lolth until she had like 50% HP left. After that legs would appear out of the ground, kill those and the portal keepers spawn. Once the keepers spawn, kill them and repeat the process until you killed all the legs and portal keepers.

The next part I'm a little forgetful on but I think you beat down on Lolth some more until the Hand of the Goddess appears. Once that happens, you have to retreat back and travel through the raid until you find a portal where you fight a boss. Best thing to do about the hand is have someone intimidate it or something and keep it distracted. Throughout the whole raid, obviously Ana must be kept alive so you must always have someone on her making sure she stays behind and doesn't get hurt.

As to your problem, I'm not sure exactly where you fail. As long as you defeat all the waves of portal keepers and take down the legs THEN (I think) beat down on Lolth again until Hand of the Goddess appears and retreat back with Ana to the next part of the raid, you should be fine.

I think your problem was that you either weren't A.) Killing the legs then the portal keepers that come out of it until they were all dead then beating on Lolth until the hand of the goddess appears or

B.) You did the above but did not run away from the hand of the goddess to the next part of the raid. You cannot remain in that area after it appears.

If you didn't get the hand to appear, you must have messed up the order or a certain objective. This quest is also very buggy so it could be just a bug.

Yeah we killed all the legs and all that...moved on thru went thru 2 way points disabled the orbs ....got to the end where the barrier is and had waves of portal keepers....killed them all then killed lolth again...cleaned up a few more portal keepers...they stopped spawning, didnt get the quest objective recognized then stuck with nothing left to do but stand there looking at a barrier. As far as the hand yeah it followed us for a while randomly smashing party members while we made our way thru the raid to the end.

You mean you got all the way to the end where you take down Lolth to like 10% HP and you have to run away and the barrier won't open? Usually that means you probably missed like one trash mob and it blocked the way or it didn't spawn or perhaps it glitched. After that barrier though, the raid ends so you got bad luck getting stuck there. I'd mark it up as a possible bug.

My comments:

1. I just completed the quest, got through the end, watched Ana banish Lolth, saw Ana summon 6 chests, and then nothing. Just bugged, no xp, no loot. So not WAI, I got nothing. Oh well. Hope that gets fixed soon.

2. Regarding drop rates here's my theory: it's on purpose so we play the new raid together a lot. Players on DDO are a scarce resource and need to be herded to a few quests (more than the other quests) to enable a space for reliable PUG grouping. We're both the customers and part of the product. Think Shroud, which you can almost always fill fairly quickly. These are raids with serious grind for epic loot. So good rewards, lots of repeats. Each repeat is a person being available to play with other people. If people could easily get green steel, then cool, we're done and Shroud would not be the social event that it is.

Alternatively, many pockets of the game are tough spots to find a party. For example, lower levels go quicker than higher levels due to the experience requirements. That means for each toon, you spend less time on lower level content than higher level content. And there's no cap on how long you might spend at level 20 (in the old days). That naturally results in few people doing lower level content, all things being otherwise equal. Similarly, lower lever quests often have poor loot rewards, so people don't normally grind them. That results in fewer total plays for that quest. Realistically, DDO does not draw enough people to set up the math to try equally distributing players amongst levels, quests etc. They need to draw people to pockets of activity; old reliable style. The alternative to this model is be SW:TOR and have an army of players. That's my theory anyway.

So in a way, beglad the new raid isn't giving it up so easy.

We had a portal keeper from the last fight spawn at the first fight location..noticed it when someone got knocked off..killed it and was able to complete

I see what you're saying to a point but what you described and what I've seen seems like it's straight out not WAI. It would have been smart of Turbine to do something similar to what you said, but it really doesn't seem all that intentional. And if it did, it's just another grind which there is enough of in DDO as is.

Then again, it's the only raid in the expansion thus far (the other one coming in August, didn't make the cut for full release of expansion) so maybe they really want us to play around with it until the next one. So that may also be a reason why the loot is not dropping as frequently as other raids. Still, not counting that, there's so many bugs that's been described and happening that I wouldn't be surprised if by some chance the loot was just bugged altogether.

I have heard of people getting named items though, just seems so rare, at least ONE raid item should drop per raid. I thought it usually went that 2 raid items were dropped per raid, why is this an exception? At least some raid loot or items should drop. It just seems so poor, maybe I haven't run it enough times to say that though, I'm just so used to the at least 2 raid loot per run rule such as Reavers, VoN or ADQ ect. This just seems like there's almost no raid loot per run. Is it because it's mostly "relics" that will be dropping instead of a large variety of named items?

Ran this severlley shortmanned (just wanted to get a look before a guild run later in the week). and well...went smoothly till the legs. I know the hand is supposed to knock you off..but the legs shoot you off = instant death, ana falls off and gets stuck in the lower scenery.

Then not sure what happened, The soul spiders got sacrificed into the bigger version, again, and again...

I was at 0 sp not long before that was taken (and died shortly after)

The legs are very annoying I agree. Especially if there's even mild to moderate lag, you'll probably be sent flying without even knowing it. Just hope a friendly cleric is there to revive you. As long as you have coordination and take out one leg and spider at a time, you got it. Nothing guarantees you safety from the **** legs though.
