View Full Version : Fighter Can 20 Kensi with Sorc PL be AA now?

Sorry for the gibberish title but with non blue bar characters getting mana from SP items and possibly sorc past life can a pure fighter get AA now?

Took elf in this build to see if the elf longbow damage was worth it. I am pretty sure that the +dex is not worth it certainly not with the hit to con but perhaps the enhancement pass will make elf a better pick than it currently is over Helf. Helf would be rogue most likely or ranger for the feat.

As far as I know you can, but why would you want to? You give up up to +50% attack, 50% of the time (so average of +25%) from 10k stars for an all the time +5% bonus (as ranged adds only give ~1/2 the listed bonus due to only speeding up the firing animation and not the reload animation).

10k stars is good, monk goodies are good, full UMD is good ...

I have not had a chance to actually try the 10k stars method. If you go 11 ranger 6 monk 3 art dumping dex for wis, are you able to keep enough Ki to use 10k stars on cool down? Going 12 monk 6 ranger 2 Art would give you the third Water stance but then you would need 19 dex with a +2 tome and hope for a +4 into epic for the epic archery feat. Also consider the crit range increase from Kensi 3.

Speaking of epic do any of the GMoF ED die roll powers add to longbows? +.5[W] on one of the 2d6 bows is still 1d6.

Lastly if you went full intimidate on a Helf you could still tank just fine as I threw in the shield feats.

If you want to range 100% of the time in a constant combat vacuum then you need to wait until epic levels to pick up the Enlightenment ability/twist to get +2 passive Ki gen, once you have this there is no need to ever melee again however unless you want to use other abilities. Qualifying for Combat Archery is important so for an epic character so 11 ranger/ is really out in U14 as one of the primary advantages is out the window, I'd plan for a +3 dex tome to qualify for CA (price is coming down rapidly, should be able to pick one up shortly for 500k).

They all do afaik, Unwavering Ardency can end up with some decent base damage as a 2[1d12] bow.

Intimidate doesn't make a tank anymore but the shield feats sound like a step in the right direction. Even with max ranks in intimidate it takes considerable epic gear to hit the target numbers. 12 monk builds could tank very well in U13, not sure about U14 with all the changes.

It doesn't. You can twist in Haste Boost IV via Legendary Dreadnought and have your cake and eat it too. Overwhelmingly the issue with archers isn't the 20 seconds of manyshot (which is what you save haste boost for on a kensei) but rather the time outside that 20 seconds, that is where a 10k stars archer shines and a kensei archer gets left in the dust.

Nice Break down WoWo. I guess it is starting to look like the 1 arti -> 6 ranger -> 12 monk -> Arti might be the best way to go. 18 base dex and as much wisdom as you can get with level ups into wisdom which could qualify you for vorpal strike as well as combat archery. You would need to select imp pre and g2wf as hit dice feats but you could use earth stance or water stance for regen or crit range. For that matter AA and ninja could mix well.

I wish they would show us where they are at on the enhancement revamp. Would hate to make the character to have it voided before it was done.
