Workaround for disappearing equipment hover window?

You know that issue when the equipment stats tooltip hover window disappears like 1 second after it opens?

It seems to be happening a lot more for me and I can't remember the workaround that seemed to work... Anyone know what that was? It wasn't re-logging, it was something one could do while logged in (although I could be misremembering...).

The workaround I normally use is Z to examine. I haven't found another workaround to be reliable.
