Thaumaturgy Staff
Potency: +20 Equipment Bonus to Universal Spell Power
Resonance: +30 Equipment Bonus to Sonic Spell Power
Corrosion: +30 Equipment Bonus to Acid Spell Power
Does the Universal Bonus stack with an individual (element) Bonus? (It must. Why else have Potency on each Thaumaturgy staff?)
If I hold a Potency scepter in one hand, and a Corrosion scepter in the other, are both effects stacking?
Are these Staves so good because you have Potency/Element/Element/(possible Lore) all in 1 item (though 2 handed), and that they all stack?
Should I look for (element) scepter + (element) Lore scepter weapon sets, as well as Alchemical clicky boosters? If yes, is it because Potency won't stack in this scenerio? Is this possible while also looking for a Potency item in non-weapon form?
Thanks.
ps:
+1 Combustion bastard sword
ML: 1
+30 Equipment Bonus to Fire Spell Power
+3 Combustion Scepter
ML: 12
+78 Equipment Bonus to Fire Spell Power
How is the amount of the Equipment Bonus caculated? Is it based on minimum level plus other item effects?

As far as I can tell, Thaumaturgy has a few rules.
1) Thaumaturgy applies to 2 Handed Staves only
2) (Large)X Spell power on TWO types of spells (Fire/Elec/Acid/Cold/Neg/Pos/Light+good/Sonic/force?/Repair?/etc?)
3) (Medium)X Potency bonus
4) (Small)X Implement bonus (Which is based on the Enhancement bonus, seems to be enhancement * 3)
5) Some random loot gen bonus (from a table of spell related loot gen no doubt)
Also, all different types of Spell Powers stack.
The Universal Spellpower shoudn't stack with the individuals, but can bost other spells of curse, where you dont have an individual boost.
For Thaumaturgy I found a similar one. Yep that Prefix gives Potency/Elemental Boost/Elemental Boost.
(Think mine had potency 60/radiance 90/sonic 90 + major void lore)
Clickies are always worthy using now, since the alchemical bonus stacks.

It doesn't. Why else would you have it? So you get -some- kind of bonus if you cast a spell that is not typed as one of the two types the Thaumaturgy is giving you.

No.

No. They are good because they have 2 high power Element boosts, and the potential for a synergistic suffix (a lore, or a mastery). Corrosion + [Whatever] + Superior Conjuration Mastery would make for nice acid spells and webs.

The only difference between now and before Update 14 is that clicky boosters stack with the permanent item, but provide a lot less boost than they used to. You used to be able to click the booster and get +75% and not need a permanent item. Now that is not a viable option.
If yes, is it because Potency won't stack in this scenerio? Is this possible while also looking for a Potency item in non-weapon form?
Potency is just not very good as an effect anymore. Type specific boosts are WAY better (50-100% better, typically).

The clicky and potency changes are the worst. The repeater + caster build I was using to get past lives is just horrible now without sup. potency and/or +75% clickies. I lose a ton of dps swapping out my repeater and glorious obscenity to a caster stick just to throw a spell or two then swap back, but spells are hardly worth casting with just potency now. Not to mention my runearm damage is a lot lower now too because I can't use a clicky for +75% but I can't have a caster stick and runearm equipped at the same time either. It's curtains for that build I think, I'm not at all enthused about struggling the rest of the way to cap on this build either.
I imagine melee casters have similar issues. At least until I find some non-weapon items that buff spells more than potency does. I haven't seen anything besides thaumaturgy sticks for the low/mid levels yet though.

Pulled a Thaum staff the other day with Superior Lightening Lore; made me almost wish my Sorc was a Lightning Savant. Imagine 12% chance to crit.

Lv20 Bracers of the Wind T3 are much easier to get and they have Superior Lightning lore.

keep an eye out for hats. i've seen a few lootgen hats with glaciation and such. they have all been low level, but then i've only been farming low level material lately.
(alternately, you could see how high you could craft onto your glorious obscenity)

Not really. +10% is not worth the trouble of carrying around specific clickies and going to the trouble of using them. I used to have a +50% potency hat and +75% fire/ice/lighting clickies, now my clickies are all +10 sp and my hat +48 sp. So in theory I could get to 58 now if I use the clickies, because they now stack, but its still a much inferior total than before.

I play a melee caster and I have had trouble with this nerf to clickies. Fortunately I have my pirate hat that has +48 universal sp, but I'm still pretty sad to see the clickies have become useless.
