Has anybody figured out how to tell what the PRR on an armor is by mousing over it (like in the auction house or an end reward list)?

PRR is a formula based upon your BAB and if the armor is heavy, med, or light.

That formula can be looked up.

Edit:

I THINK the formula is...

2 + 1/2 BAB for light
4 + 3/4 BAB for med
6 + BAB for heavy

The formula is right, but I really don't remember where I have seen it.
What I really dont understand is how the % of damage absorbed is calculated. The PRR is =/= %

(1 – (0.99^Physical Resistance Rating))*0.65

I thought it might be different for named armors.

Its not.

Also keep in mind if the item is mithril, you use the modified sizr.... so mith FP provides less PRR than regular FP since it's Medium not Heavy

Yeah, this is totally intuitive and makes perfect sense.

Do shields not add to PPR at all?

I was running a few low level quest with a lv4 WF/fighter and was observing the combat log for any signs of PPR.
You might think that low level melee Mobs like in Stand your Ground should do physical damage. But there was not a single message regarding PPR, and I hadnt the feeling that the damage was reduced somehow beside its DR from enhancments and adamantine body.
The toon got 14 PPR and DR 3/adamantine.

Does anybody know, how it should work and how to tell if it actually works in a certain situation? and how it works in combination with DR?

Check your feats for PRR. under heavy/medium/light armor proficiency and also shield proficiency. If you dont have it just click on the box show Unavailable

Maybe you forgotten, but did you ever turned off any combat feedback?

:/ well, I found the problem. I was reading the UI wrong.
The PPR is presented in the character sheet the same way like the elemental resists, but the elemental resists are used to work as an absolute value substracted from the damage.
The PPR is a percentage and causes a relative reduction of damage. According to the tooltip info of meager PPR of 14 gives 8.53% damage reduction.

Well my test was with low level mobs striking for 10 in total, the effect of PPR is only a reduction of 0-1 point of damage and may be superceeded of the DR 3/adamantine anyways.

Go to a litte higher lvl quest, on elite.
Stand in place and just take damage until you're dead.
Release, heal retry, but without armour.
Then, you'll se results :)
