View Full Version : Challenge set to public?

1. Doing challenges in a 2 man group with a friend.
Everytime we enter it AUTO PUTS UP AN LFM, that ANYONE CAN JOIN AUTOMATICALLY
I have to kick ppl and/or manually take down the lfm every time I enter a challenge.
Don't even get me started on all the rest.
2. Entering a challenge and then entering any quest in the kings forest on CR 23, auto rewards you with 0 XP. Apparently logging in/out resets this. Didn't care to test it considering it takes 5 years to run through the kings forest.
3. Advertise is spelled Adverti'Z'e in the lfm
4. Epic chests that no longer drop tokens

On the quest window you can select Public or Private, and I think it becomes the default for all future instances.

Why is the default attitude of so many people to rage at what they perceive to be wrong before they even understand it? Don't these people ever feel foolish when they are found to be completely wrong about something they accused someone else of being so completely wrong about in a fit of rage?
Where's my pencil!!???
This stinks, there's a thief in here, somebody stole my pencil!
A low, vile, dirty, rotten theif!
How dare they steal my pencil?
Dude, it's behind you ear.
Oh, heh.

And it defaults to private initially. So at some point he must have selected public.

Because without such /rage threads I would be working, filling a meaningless excel sheet.
The world is better without that excel sheet and with this post.

I'm pretty sure a high school kid could have done a better job with some of this stuff.

Are you sure its not like the quests where you can pick PUBLIC / PRIVATE and you are just not doing so. This is a common mistake

Please lighten up
The game is working fine for the most part
Is this your first time playing DDO? First release you have had to sit through?
Ive been playing for years
Every (yes EVERY) release has bugs that takes some hotfixes to sort out. You get used to it, you expect it.
Just submit your bug reports and either a) Carry on playing around the bugs b) Wait offline until they get fixed
Do you think Turbine are releasing content intended to annoy their customerbase on purpose?
No.. they made some mistakes, they will fix them - just sit back and wait.
Submit your bug report, leave the matter alone.
Some degree of dissatisfaction is understandable but I just wish people would calm down a bit, its not the end of the world.

Please try harder. My coffee tastes better with proper drama, not whining about something you didn't read the instructions on.
I'm disappointed, I expected better. FR is making things go downhill :(

lesson #1:
For every interface you can create as a programmer, there will always be an idiot who won't understand it.
to the op:
creating threads with this kind of wording does not garner friendly responses. Even if what you described where actually true, and an error by turbine's programming, a simple "there is a bug, please fix it." would have been enough. All the other points you make have been made in clearer and more constructive form already, a little search would have cleared this up.

People are wired to believe they could not ever be wrong about anything. Understanding that you may be wrong about something is a learned virtue.
Similarly, understanding that faults in others is better attributed to ignorance than malice is something one has to consciously learn.
Hench rage takes precedence.

Hello Pot.
Given you have now been put in your place you have 2 choices.
Pretend this thread never existed, or return and apologise for your massive overreaction to self-inflicted user error.
Which will it be?

I have run into this problem a few times even while set to private.
I have been sucked into groups with out any intentions of joining one.

I've heard it as a PEBKAC error (Problem exists between keyboard and chair.)
Also there's the ID-10-T error. (Get it? ID10T) :) That works better said aloud.

I kind of tongue-in-cheek agree - the DDO Wiki only has "Favor" instead of "Favour".
We here in Germany mainly learn British English - and we learn to correctly spell it.
I still remember when I saw American English in my school time for the first time. It looked like ... "not pretty" to me. As someone had been lazy and omitted a few letters from a lot of words.
Now, my real problem lies with mixing both. You will most definitively see me using both spellings at the same time.
(Same goes for the grammar : I'm more and more mixing German & English grammar the older I become.)
I feel like a half-blood now, like a bastard, language-wise.

The amount of typos I have seen since the update is scarey.
'Eminster' was the one that stood out the most.
I'm not annoyed with the devs. So much content, so little time, so many beatings.

Geniuses every one of u.
The evenigstar challenge i was running didn't even have a click box for private vs public
Unless u are suggesting that people who want to run challenges should first have to run a quest to adjust a setting and then run a challenge. If u think that is proper implementation i feel sorry for u

I have rep disabled because of people like u.
Btw i am the guy who pushed for exclusivity of cove dagger and warned about insta kills in epic prior to U10.
For this i received a small but annoying amountof neg rep
As u can see i was correct in both cases.

I'll respond to yours since it's worded more in real person speak.
Not only you have to power to set an instance to public. Everyone in your group does. Whoever starts it first, may do so.
So your party members did that.
I've have them done it to me a few times, but after telling them to set to private or let me start the instances, never again.
Pretty poor system, as it essentially means anything can recruit people into my private groups just by jumping in any instance and having there friend hite the lfm. I've had to kick a few ppl due to this.
(if you mean you were solo and entered and instance and were 100% sure it was on private, but entered a group, i dunno, never encountered that. Tho i rarely solo, I have jumped into the king forest like 100+ solo to test various destiny abilities, not once was i put in a group.)

I think the last 3 posts really cleared up the source of the problem.
The first 10 or so ignorant people should probably go DIAF.

Yeah, i noticed there were no group settings on the new challenges when I was playing lama.
It took me a minute to go back to a quest, set the grouping mechanisms the way I wanted, and then return to the challenge. (They stayed set)
Since the first time I did this and perma-messed up my rewards from quests in beta, I've refrained from running any challenges. Logging in and out did nothing. Once I was hosed, I STAYED hosed on that character.
Now I refuse to touch the challenges until they get the level 1 bug worked out. It's just not worth the headache, IMO. I know relogging fixed it for some folks, but not me. Bug reports were sent.
