I have a Artificer and was surprised that the Shadowdancer is more in line of what a Arti should have access to at first, not Magister or the other 2 in that circle.

Who designs them? They obviously must play certain classes cause some of the others rock, too bad the Artis doesnt. =( they need to fix this.

You're not locked into one destiny. You can in fact unlock and max out every destiny and switch to the most desirable one for your needs. You find Shadow Dancer to be appealing, other Artificers like Magister or Shiradi Champion, that's the beauty of the system you have options.

Most probably:

"How do you dare to play a class not according how we feel it should be played! That insolence! - Perhaps ... this character... is even one of those ... *shudder* multiclass-builds?!? - Make him GRIND *muhuhuaa*mustachiotwirl*!"

I chose Magister only because I was told I could not take Shadow as my first one.

You have a nice long ride now...level to Magister 3...switch to Fatesinger and level to 4...then you can switch to Shadowdancer.

I was impatient and wanted to start my Artificer in Shadowdancer. I bought a Key with last two months accrued turbine points...selected Magister...double-clicked the key...switch to Shadowdancer.

Voila.

When you reach Shadow dancer, you'll at least have two fate points. Unearthly Reaction is an excellent twist from Magister.

Does the granted free LR reset Epic destiny choice also?

After doing some checking I guess the FIRST time choosing a Destiny you HAVE to take one DDO designated as your circle so for Artificer (Magister, Draconic incarnation or Fatesinger).I couldn't have chosen Shadowdancer or Shiradi champion anyway unless I spent DDO points like you did FooWonk.

Artificers main stats are Int and Dex,I just don't see why we would get a first choice only sphere that only has Int in it and one that is obviously for a Bard, they should have let us choose ANY of the choices for the first one.

Why should artificers get special treatment by being able to pick from any of the destinies when no other class gets that ability? Personally, I understand what they were trying to do with giving you access to only a certain sphere, but cases like this, and druids, do tend to bring to light a flaw in the system. You think you have it bad as an arty who wants shadow dancer, take a look at what druids will have to go through. If they are a caster type, they will have to take Shiradi Champion, and then work through the martial sphere to either the divine or the arcane sphere based on what they want to focus on. That is at least 4 destinies they have to grind through.

I wasn't implying that Artis should be the only ones to get a choice, they should have let every class choose what they want.

DDO peeps remind of the parents that make you eat Liver before you get any dessert.:D

Ha, well, there's something to be said for initial freedom, but it was decided against in favor of additional store items. It's not necessarily a bad thing, and better than some other options that were tossed about.

In any case, hold out hope. Artificer and Cleric and Druid are still lacking in a related ED- hopefully we'll see those coming out very soon: Offering us a proper 'engineer/tinkerer' or 'magic toolkit' build, a utility divine, and an elementalist or summoner or shapeshifting master or..

Yeah. It's looking like a bright future for build design.

Lies. They're just really drunk, clumsy rogues that got into the 'magic liquor and robotics' cabinet.
